Say Yes to the Beijing Olympics and No to the Party Crashers

I have decided to write my General Thoughts on the 2008 Beijing Olympics in response to the lies and exaggerations of the majority of the Western Media who have written about China without visiting.

I. Separate Sports from Politics
I have yet to hear people separate politics from sports. It appears to be a common staple in every Olympics since Jesse Owens competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. While Hitler and his government left much to be desired, imagine if the United States of America had boycotted the 1936 Berlin Olympics. If Jesse Owens had not appeared in the Berlin Olympics in 1936, the misguided and racist idea of a superior race based on «White, Aryan, and European» would not have been dissolved by the reality that people are people.

When people call for a boycott of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, they do it in a mean spirit and with a racist attitude. This attitude calls for the Olympics to be hosted in an area located in North America or Europe. These were the same people whose ancestors criticized the 1956 Melbourne Olympics by saying «It is too far» or inventing something political. The boycotts of yesterday and today have never worked. The boycotts of tomorrow will never work.

I still remember the time when Carter boycotted the Moscow Olympics of 1980, many people responded by crossing the border with Canada and taking flights to Moscow or buying Moscow Olympic Souvenirs. My act of defying the boycott was to write to my family in Cuba and to stations such as Radio Bucharest, Radio Budapest, Radio Berlin International, and Radio Polonia in order to obtain Olympic Souvenirs. The losers in the boycott wars were the Athletes who could not go to Moscow.

In 1984, the Olympics in Los Angeles were subject to boycotts by the Soviet Bloc Countries even though the majority [including Cuba] had issued stamps celebrating the Los Angeles Olympics. I cannot say if there were people in the Soviet Bloc who defied the boycotts of their leaders. All I can say was that the losers were the athletes. At least the People’s Republic of China sent its delegation to the Olympics in the spirit of sports. The following Olympic Games of 1988 in Seoul, Republic of Korea; 1992 in Barcelona, Spain, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia; 2000 in Sydney, Australia; and 2004 in Athens, Greece was not subjected to any boycotts. The year is 2008 and the current host which is the People’s Republic of China has been subjected to virulent attacks by its enemies.

There are people who have become judgmental that they write everything imaginable. It is a crime and a shame that while there are people who just want to enjoy the Olympics, there are arrogant and frustrated people with envy and hatred in their heart who have a desire to destroy the desire of people to enjoy the Olympics. Many of these people may have degrees are considered «experts» but they suffer from frustrations that they had in their childhood.
II. For those who want to combine politics and sports
The following is for those who say that politics and sports have to mix. He or she who is without sin should cast the first stone. Who cannot forget how China was divided amongst different countries with different concessions? No country can escape the fact that they contributed to the problems of China with the help of puppet rulers called Warlords. The United States of America, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, and Great Britain as well as Portugal participated in the Cultural Plundering. Who cannot forget how the Chinese were second class citizens in their own country before the founding of the People’s Republic of China? Who cannot forget the pain inflicted on the people of China from the Opium Wars of the 1840’s to the cultural genocide committed by the Japanese Government in the 1930’s?

What about the people who talk about Tibet? Do they know where Tibet is? Have they visited Tibet or China? Do those who talk about Tibet care about the people of China or even Tibet? The answers to these questions are a resounding no. The Tibet issue was promoted by Hollywood people who could not find salvation in their material possessions and decided to use the so called Dalai Lama as a mouthpiece for their unholy acts. For those who are arrogant and ignorant of the reality of China, remember that China or The People’s Republic of China extends from Central Asia to Taiwan and 300 miles beyond Taiwan. The people forget that even Kuomintang leader Chiang Kai Shek had acknowledged Tibet as part of China in a letter to one of his ministers.

For the people who love to use human rights as an example, accusing a country of violating human rights is a serious offence. It is more so when the countries that make the accusations have violated or still violate human rights. What right does the West including the United States have in accusing China of human rights violations when there are many human rights violations in the West? Italy was accused by the European Commission of Human Rights

of violating the rights of the Roma [Gypsy] Population. Many countries in Europe also violated the rights of the Roma [Gypsy] Population since the right of the Roma Population is to live as eternal migrants and Europe does not want to recognize these rights. In France, the 2002 Presidential Elections left Chirac in First Place with Le Pen in Second Place. While I do not agree with Le Pen, the fact that Chirac and the mainstream political parties in France sidelined Le Pen and his supporters so that Chirac could win the Presidency is hardly an example of democracy.

The United States of America and its Mainstream Media cannot accuse China of Human Rights Violations without taking into account that they are always a society spoiling for a fight. At the same time, the Libertarians and Greens are excluded from the political process secondary to archaic election laws that favour the Republicans and Democrats. Who cannot forget how the Republicans and Democrats plundered China, Hawaii, the Native Americans, the African Americans, and the Latins [including the takeover of half of Mexico] for the sake of cheap labour. In fact, the Republicans and Democrats created crisis after crisis in Latin America in order to obtain cheap labour. The United States of America and their Mainstream Media also violates the human rights of people [although many are not aware] by forcing mediocre artists on the set while leaving the ones who have talent out in the cold.

For those who want to talk about the Tiananmen Incident, I have the following question. What right can you talk about Tiananmen when there was a similar incident in Kent State University in Kent, Ohio in 1970? In Kent State University in Kent [Ohio], there was a peaceful demonstration against the involvement of the United States of America in Vietnam and Cambodia that was authorized by the Ohio Government and it spiraled out of control. There were people who were looking for a fight and a war within the campus. The lives of the people were being threatened. The end result was that the Kent State University Police, the City of Kent Police, The Portage County Police was unable to contain the situation. The Ohio State Police could not control the deteriorating situation. In the end, the Ohio National Guard was called to control the situation. There was loss of life but imagine if the disturbance had not been resolved. The entire disturbance was recorded in front of a live audience that was watching the whole thing in

their television sets. [I could remember being an eight year old in Ohio being told to hide in a shelter in my school since it was within the vicinity and the danger was great. I remember my parents having to get me at the school and take me home where I did my homework]. Every society has a right to defend themselves against those who seek to destroy it by force. This is a natural and human right of every society.

III. What Human Rights does the West Wants?
What does the West want including the Mainstream Media? They want to impose their way of life on the rest of the world but when immigrants from Central Asia, Africa, and Latin America come to Europe and North America, there are the so called alarm bells of «being invaded». The Human Rights as practiced in the West is one in which many forms of immorality are admitted while the innocent suffer from the abuse and injustices who preach human rights. The hypocrisy is so big that these people charge Sixty or Seventy Dollars for their so called workshops while people in America have to pay almost $5.00 a liter for their petrol or gasoline.

IV. Conclusion
Instead of thinking about politics when you think sports or other forms of culture, please separate sports from politics. Sports and Politics do not mix and those who do not want to enjoy the Beijing Olympics should just hide behind their ivory towers while people around the world come together [using the song recorded by the Beatles]. Remember, all you need is love and sports.
