Bienvenido a la seccion literaria del Noticiero Alvarez-Galloso, tenemos como invitado el escritor cubano Pedro Pablo Perez Santiesteban para comentar sobre su nueva obra maestra “Frente Al Espejo“. El libro fue uno de los libros principales de la Feria Internacional del Libro en Miami Florida 2009. Es un libro que merece formar parte de los hogares por la manera que habla de la realidad cubana.

1. ¿Cuál es el tema principal de “Frente Al Espejo”?

 El tema principal es la vida de un hombre, único hijo, de un carácter muy introvertido producto al modo en que se desarrolla su infancia y al sistema del país en que le tocó nacer. Un hombre que se ve encerrado en sus criterios sin opción a tomar decisiones. Fue necesario que un cambio en el ambiente sacudiera los cimientos de su pueblo, para que por vez primera decidiera que hacer con su vida.

Junto a su historia, van paralelas otras historias, y también la de un país.

2- ¿Cuál fue el motivo para escribir “Frente Al Espejo”?

Yo creo que no existe un motivo o razón única, son muchos poquitos. Primero la necesidad de escribir, condición innata en mi, y que de algún modo se convierte en una necesidad.

Por otra parte, las historias que vas escuchando de bocas ajenas, llega un momento en que se identifican con la tu propia vida, y entonces surge el “motivo” aparente.

3-Como “Frente Al Espejo” es otra obra maestra, cuánto tiempo se tomó para escribir el libro?

En realidad es un libro muy corto, por eso clasifica muy bien como noveleta o novela corta, género que disfruto mucho, quizás por lo que traigo del periodismo (poder de síntesis). Pero además, soy de los que creo que cuando algo se puede decir de modo breve y totalmente entendible, incluso en metáfora… sobran líneas.

Pero respondiendo a tu pregunta, fueron alrededor de cuatro o cinco meses en pequeños intervalos.

4-Cuál es la meta del autor para el público concerniente al libro?

Definitivamente que conozcan una historia, y muchos puedan identificarse con ella. Es curioso, porque varias personas me preguntan si esa es mi historia, y puedo asegurarte que de “Gonzalo Correa” tengo muy poco.

5-”Frente Al Espejo” fue un libro que gozo de popularidad en la Feria Internacional del Libro, como fue el recibimiento [del libro] después de la Feria?

Ya el libro era conocido antes de la Feria, lo que sucede es que se presentó una nueva edición bajo el sello editorial de Voces de Hoy, con un estupendo diseño de cubierta de Tony Pol, y realmente los ejemplares que se llevaron se vendieron. Cuento con la satisfacción del reconocimiento de varias personas que la han leído. Espero suceda igual con mi segunda noveleta, Amparo la hija de Jacinta y Recaredo

Existe comentarios sobre el futuro de Thierry Henry en la Copa Mundial 2010. Hay personas que creen que no debe jugar en el equipo de Francia debido a su version de la “Mano De Dios” de Maradona. Hay otros que dicen que debe jugar en los partidos de la Copa Mundial 2010.

El escritor de este articulo es de la opinion que si Henry debe jugar en la Copa Mundial. Una prohibicion en la Copa Mundial seria injusta comparada con las malacrianzas y violaciones constantes de las reglas de la FIFA por Maradona.

Thierry Henry pidio disculpa y confeso que no queria hacer “La Mano de Maradona” con intencion comparado con el inventor de aquel acto de infamia en la Copa Mundial de Mexico 1986. Por eso y mucho mas, Henry debe participar en la Copa Mundial 2010

Para mis amistades y familiares de Radio Nederlands, entere segun la BBC de que Egipto junto con Argelia entablaron denuncias por los abusos entre ambos hinchas. Incluso, Egipto amenazo con retirarse de las contiendas internacionales por dos a~nos si no hay una resolucion del problema argelino. Aunque se puede hablar de peque~nos incidentes, la situacion entre ambos paises esta encendida con las manifestaciones contra la embajada argelina en El Cairo. Las manifestaciones degeneraron en la peor violencia en la historia del futbol. Segun The Guardian, parte de El Cairo fue cerrado por la policia mientras hay intentos en el restablecimiento de la paz. En la misma revista de The Guardian, el hijo del presidente egipcio Hosni Mubarak emitio unas declaraciones contra Argelia aumentando aun mas la tension entre los dos paises. Hay personas en Egipto pidiendo disculpas de Argelia por la violencia contra los hinchas de los Faraones. El gobierno de Egipto llamo el Embajador Argelino en El Cairo para mostrar su disgusto con lo que esta sucediendo. Mientras tanto, el Secretario General de la Liga Araba esta pidiendo la calma entre los dos paises. Espero que todo se resuelve de forma pacifica pues los deportes no se debe mezclar con la violencia ni la politica.

The 2009 NFL Season for the Miami Dolphins is a far cry from the 2007 and 2008 season. It has been marked with five victories and five defeats as well as Ronnie Brown and Chad Pennington being out during most or the rest of the season.

The pundits were afraid that the season would be over with the injury of Pennington and have repeated their predictions after Ronnie Brown’s injury. The game against the Carolina Panthers proved that this was not the case.

The Fins still have life and have been able to cope in their last game with the help of Ricky Williams. It does not mean that they are going to win every game and that they are Super Bowl Material.

The underwriter wrote in previous articles about the meltdown of the southernmost NFL Team in America. He stated reasons such as lack of practice methods that have been tried with success.

The other problem has been the dependence on one player. When Marino was active in the franchise, he was looked [directly or indirectly] as the player who kept the team together.

Pennington, Brown, and Williams have been placed in the same limelight which means increased pressure to success. The dependence on one player should not be the basis for any NFL Football team.

The players of today will be the players of history but a franchise such as the Dolphins must remain independent of such dependence on one person. The team must concentrate on practice as well as attempting to salvage what remains of the current NFL Season.

It should do that by having players attempt different positions and game strategies. The Fins should look forward and not look back with the intention of playing football like it has never been played before without depending on one player.

If this could be done, there is the possibility that the Dolphins may have saved what remains of their 2009 NFL Season before returning to the drawing board in the NFL Draft.

The world of football [soccer] is in shock after the qualifying match between France and the Republic of Ireland. Thierry Henry was one of the participants in the all too important game. The tensions between France and the Republic of Ireland were palpable from the beginning with both teams struggling for a berth in the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa.

The result was that the French won an aggregate by a 2-1 margin and classified for the 2010 World Cup on aggregate points and the “Hand of Henry”. During the game, Henry used his hand to prevent the ball from going outside of the play area. The comparison with Maradona’s “Hand of God” was inevitable. The interviews with former colleagues in the Arsenal Football Club and the French National Football [Soccer] Club defended the position of Henry.

The Republic of Ireland asked FIFA for a rematch and the motion was denied as predicted. The organization states that that the results of a refereeand the game are final unless the French want a rematch. FIFA added that a rematch would be an invitation for other members to ask for the same treatment.

The French did not want a rematch while the leaders of Ireland and France were expressing sharp disagreements about what transpired. Thierry Henry issued an apology and said that a rematch would be a “fair solution” before adding that it would be up to FIFA for a decision.

Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United jumped into the fray by suggesting the use of video monitors for games. The underwriter favours a mixture of human decision combined with technology even though Football [Soccer] like many sports are imperfect. The whole thing has a solution.

Thierry Henry should not be banned from the World Cup. He admitted that he used the hand in the game but Maradona used the hand and nobody banned him. It would be unfair for Henry to receive a heavy punishment of a World Cup ban while Diego Armando Maradona received a light punishment under Article 57 of the FIFA Regulation Book. For the information of the readers, Article 57 carries a two month suspension with a 20,000 Swiss Franc fine compared to Article 58 which is more stringent.

The banning of Thierry Henry from the 2010 World Cup while Maradona [who has committed severe offenses] will be seen as double standard. Thierry Henry has admitted his guilt and claims to feel the pain of the people and supporters of the Irish National Football [Soccer] Team. It is for this reason [as well as the fact that Henry and the French Football [Soccer] Federation may encounter problems in the 2010 World Cup] that Henry deserves to play in the 2010 World Cup.

I am looking at the news about Henry, France, and Ireland. According to Radio Nederlands, Sarkozy has already apologized to the Irish Prime Minister but there was no news about a replay. FIFA has already decided against a replay since other countries would be requesting the same thing. I am in agreement with Sir Alex Ferguson concerning the use of video technology with one difference. The use of video technology should be combined with human decision making and a moral code of admission of guilt. In the present tense, maybe the game would have to be invalidated with Ireland going to the 2010 World Cup but the decision should be left to FIFA.

Henry y Sarkozy pidieron disculpa a la Republica de Irlanda con Wegner mostrando su acuerdo con Henry. Sir Alex Ferguson propone el uso de los videos para las decisiones del arbitro. Considero necesario el uso de tecnologia con la decision humana para resolver los problemas. Quizas la FIFA debe nulificar el juego y entregar la victoria a la Republica de Irlanda.

Arsene Wagner [who was his boss at Arsenal] agreed with Henry’s assessment of the situation. Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United proposed the use of video technology to facilitate the resolution of issues in games. The underwriter is of the opinion that video technology should be combined with human decision making in order to make a final decision.

Henry lamento el uso de la mano pero nego fraude. Arsene Wagner [ex jefe de Henry en Arsenal] esta de acuerdo con los comentarios de Henry. Sir Alex Ferguson de Manchester United propone el use de la tecnologia del video. Lo justo seria una combinacion de la tecnologia con la decision del humano.

Para mis amigos y familiares en Radio Nederlands: Considero lo que sucedio en el partido entre Francia y la Republica de Irlanda una injusticia de un arbitro. Es una lastima que Francia logro su boleto de entrada para Sudafrica a base de “la mano de Henry”. Francia y Henry [a diferencia de Maradona] tuvieron la valentia en reconocer su error y pedir una disculpa de los irlandeses. Quizas el mundo podia aprender una leccion de que los deportes debe estar por encima de la politica y el nacionalismo.

Nikolas Sarkozy [President of France] has just apologized to Brian Cowan [Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland] for what transpired in the Qualifications for the 2010 World Cup between the two countries.

It is great that sports, and decency has prevailed although there is a need to investigate what happened.
