El Noticiero Alvarez Galloso por voto unanime otorga el Premio AG Politico Extraordinario a Joe Garcia. La razon se basa en sus esfuerzos en los Comicios de 2008. Felicidades para Joe Garcia.

I have some very exciting news and I wanted you to be the first to know.

We beat Mario Diaz-Balart, a three-term Republican career politician, this quarter by over $100,000.
The totals: Joe Garcia – $513,000
Mario Diaz-Balart – $392,000

Here’s the best part: we beat our opponent’s individual contributions by over $300,000.

That means we could not have done this without you.

You are the driving force behind our people-powered campaign and what inspires us everyday.
Mario Diaz-Balart’s glitzy secret fundraiser with President Bush was no match for the thousands of people like you that today stand with Joe Garcia.
Because of your generosity, we will soon have an independent voice in Washington that will work across party lines and fight for South Florida’s families.

Only Joe Garcia has a plan to revitalize our economy, take on the big oil companies and fix our broken immigration system.

But, even though we are celebrating tonight, we still have more work to do.
Mario Diaz-Balart has already laid out his November strategy of “dividing votes,” and he has the financial resources to do so.

What he doesn’t have is the support of regular, working folks like you.
That’s why we need you to help us grow our movement for change by volunteering today:
http://joegarcia08.com/volunteer
Again, congrats for all your hard work.

Remember, we are counting on you to be the difference this November.

Thanks,

I have some very exciting news for you. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) just announced that our campaign has been added to its “Red to Blue” program.

By adding us to this “Red to Blue” list, the national party has expressed its confidence that Joe Garcia will be the next Congressman from Florida.

Its a reflection of what we have known for a while: that South Florida is hungry for change, that Joe Garcia is the man to deliver it, and that Mario Diaz-Balart is extremely vulnerable. We can, and we will, beat an incumbent that many thought was untouchable.

And we couldn’t have gotten to this place without you.

But now isn’t the time to celebrate — its time to roll-up our sleeves and get to work. Please help us build on our momentum today.

Can you ask three friends to join us?

Thanks for everything you do,

I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the movement we are creating this past weekend. We had motivated and determined volunteers committed to changing Washington that vigorously canvassed neighborhood precincts. Voters were enthused about the prospect of changing politics as usual and finding real solutions to the problems voters face in their day to day life. This weekend I would like to again reach out a hand in partnership. Two separate walks will be hosted this weekend. We will be launching a new phase in our grassroots campaign!
Please come and join us to help kick-off our Walk for South Dade this Saturday at 12.45pm at Loren Roberts Park, 627 NW Sixth Ave. in Florida City. We will be knocking on people’s door finding out the challenges they face and their hopes for a better tomorrow. If you have any questions regarding the Walk for South Dade please contact Eddie Garza at 305.972.6779.
I would also like to remind you we are continuing our outreach to the residents of West Kendall. We will be meeting at Hammocks Community Park located at 9885 Hammocks Blvd. at 10am on Saturday and on 12.30 pm on Sunday. If you have any questions please contact Alex Deus at 305.588.2656.
Please come and join us at one of these events on Saturday and walk with us on Sunday. Remember, you support is pivotal in delivering the victory we need this November and to show the country that South Florida is ready to change the direction of our country! I hope that you all will be able to attend our walks!
Best,
Joe

On Friday, George W. Bush is coming to raise money for his favorite South Florida rubber-stamp, Mario Diaz-Balart. The media is not invited and the event is far, far away from our community.

Apparently, Mario Diaz-Balart likes to vote with President Bush and take his money, but he doesn’t want to be seen with him in public.

This isn’t the first time Mario Diaz-Balart hides from you. A few weeks ago he skipped a debate with Joe Garcia that had been on his calendar for over a month.

I can’t blame him for hiding. What excuse can he possibly give for picking partisan politics over basic principles and the needs of our community? Like all his votes for the Iraq War – spreading our military thin and making our country less safe in the process – and then opposing a new GI Bill and funding for our troops.

Mario can run, but he can’t hide.

With your help, our campaign will hold him accountable. Make a donation right now and let’s show Mario Diaz-Balart what a people-based campaign looks like:

http://joegarcia08.com/BeatBushandMario

Unlike Mario Diaz-Balart, Joe Garcia isn’t afraid to stand up for our families and offer common-sense solutions to the problems we face. Joe has a record of working across party lines, helping regular, working folks and being an independent-minded leader in our community.

He has a plan to reduce our dependency on foreign oil, pass a health care plan that covers everyone and lowers premiums, and provide tax-relief to working families.

All Mario Diaz-Balart offers is a record of rubber-stamping the failed policies of George W. Bush over 90% of the time, being ranked the 406th most effective member in Congress (out of 435) and dead-last in bringing home funds to his district.

We know we can do better. Our families deserve leadership in Congress that shows up to lead on the issues, not just to vote.

Make a contribution now and let’s bring real change to South Florida and Washington.

Thank you for everything you do,

A week from now, George W. Bush will host a fundraiser for Mario Diaz-Balart behind closed doors in Naples.

No cameras will be allowed inside the event — only wealthy Bush Republican donors willing to pay a couple of thousand dollars for a steak lunch.

It’s not surprising that Bush will go to bat for Mario. He’s been one of Bush’s most reliable rubber-stamps, from the Iraq War, to a failed energy policy, to an economy agenda that’s harmed our community.

While Mario grabs $2,300 checks from a small group of Bush loyalists behind closed doors, I’m running a different kind of campaign — a people powered campaign. In the coming weeks I’ll be holding a series of small-dollar fundraisers in neighbors’ homes and at local diners. And George Bush will not be invited.

Please help kick-off this fundraising stretch and help us match Mario’s Bush money. Can you donate $50 dollars today?

http://joegarcia08.com/BeatBush

Mario can run to the confines of a closed-door fundraiser, but he can’t hide from the residents of South Florida. We are holding Mario Diaz-Balart accountable for his record of voting 100% with George Bush’s disastrous economic policies, his three votes against children’s health care and his staunch opposition to a new GI Bill.

We can’t afford another six years of Mario picking politics over principles and families.

Our community needs an independent voice in Washington that will fight for working families. That’s the kind of leadership I offer.

Give us the boost and help us beat the Bush/Diaz-Balart fundraising machine. Donate now:

Thanks so much,

Joe

This past weekend we had a great turnout. Many voters were canvassed and were able to relate their concerns and hopes with the campaign. They believe in the change we are trying to accomplish. This is our time to move forward and fulfill the promises of Americans. This is your time to come out and help bring about the change Washington needs!
This weekend we invite you to come and Walk for South Florida! The campaign will be hosting members of the press who have come to see the progress that the campaign has made due to volunteers like you! We hope you are able to join us this Saturday, June 14 at 10 am. We will be meeting at Hammocks Community Park located at 9885 Hammocks Blvd. in West Kendall. Please note that this Sunday we will not be meeting in observance of Father’s Day.
I want to personally thank you for moving this campaign forward. I would like to invite you to the Sopo residence after the walk has been completed. I will be hosting a Canvassing Cook-Out. The Sopo residence is located at 11605 SW 101 Terrace in Kendall.
If you have and questions or to RSVP please contact Alex Deus at 305.588.2656. I hope to see everyone there and thank you for everything you have done.

                                           Best,
                                                Joe

Tuesday night was a turning point in this campaign.

A hall packed with workers – of different genders, ages, and backgrounds – gathered to hear a debate between Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart and me about the issues affecting South Florida.

For two hours, our community heard me discuss my plans to bring a safe and responsible end to the War in Iraq, revitalize our economy and pass a health care plan that covers everyone and lowers premiums. All they got from Mario Diaz-Balart was an empty podium.

Where was Diaz-Balart during this important debate? On an AM talk radio show to talk about his strategy of “dividing Cuban, and Jewish, voters.”

That’s not the kind of politics we need when our community is facing so many problems.

Help us tell Mario Diaz-Balart that it is about time he starts debating the issues. Make a $30 contribution to my campaign today and let’s change South Florida and Washington:

http://joegarcia08.com/WheresMario

If we are serious about addressing the needs of our community, then we have to be willing to meet with voters, roll up our sleeves and discuss the things most important to you — Iraq, jobs, the environment, and health care.

That’s what I’ve done all along. I have met mothers in Kendall that have to choose between paying for a gallon of gas or buying a gallon of milk. I have spoken with veterans in Naples on the verge of losing their homes because their VA benefits aren’t kicking in. I have met with students from schools like FIU and Miami-Dade that have the grades and the ambition, but can’t find jobs in our community.

That’s what this campaign is about – reaching out to our community and solving real problems. This is about the politics of change and progress, not division. And, together, we can deliver this change.

Can you help our campaign by contributing $30 today?

http://joegarcia08.com/WheresMario

I’m not sure why Mario Diaz-Balart skipped this debate. Perhaps it was because he doesn’t have an excuse for rubber-stamping the failed Bush economic agenda, for voting three times against children’s health care, or for opposing benefits for veterans. These votes are inexcusable. He knows it. And he’s not going to be able to avoid the debate forever.

Together, we can send Mario Diaz-Balart home, and bring real leadership to Washington and South Florida.

Thank you for everything you do,

Joe Garcia

A few days ago, Joe Garcia asked you to call upon Mario Diaz- Balart to repudiate his vote against medical benefits for veterans. As a result of your overwhelming response, it appears as though Mario Diaz-Balart has had second thoughts about showing up to debate Joe next week.

Mario Diaz-Balart has always found the time to fly to Washington to vote against healthcare for kids, funding for schools and benefits for veterans. Now he says that a debate that was on his calendar for over a month has created a “schedule conflict.”

Tell Mario Diaz-Balart this is unacceptable. If he has time to vote against healthcare for kids and benefits for our troops, then he better make time to explain himself to his constituents:

http://joegarcia08.com/WheresMario

Mario’s decision to skip this debate and the opportunity to talk to working families doesn’t surprise us. After all, how can he possibly explain that his campaign is funded by big oil companies while Florida’s families are paying $4 for a gallon of gas? What excuse will he have for opposing the new G.I. Bill?

Mario can run, but he can’t hide.

Tell Mario Diaz-Balart that if he shows up to Washington to pick up his paycheck and health insurance courtesy of taxpayers, than he should make time to speak to working families.

http://joegarcia08.com/WheresMario

I am proud of the campaign Joe Garcia is running. It’s a grassroots campaign where we go out into the community and talk to people about the challenges they face every day. Our campaign is about offering our community a new path forward and real solutions to the problems we face.

Mario Diaz-Balart has decided to run a divisive campaign. He’s decided to distract voters from his record of voting with the Bush administration more than 90% of the time. But it won’t work.

Let’s send Mario Diaz-Balart packing.

http://joegarcia08.com/WheresMario

Unlike Mario Diaz-Balart, Joe Garcia will attend next week’s debate. Even if the podium next to him is empty, he’ll be standing up for you, because you have stood up with him.

Thank you so everything you do

Our family understands the importance of
our troops because we have someone
serving in Iraq.  This is why we believe
that when we send brave men and women
to war, we have a solemn obligation to
see that they get the hero’s welcome they
have earned when they return home.  This
includes benefits like grants to go to
college and proper medical attention.

Apparently, Mario Diaz-Balart disagrees with us.

We were appalled to learn that just last week he voted twice
against funding a new G.I. Bill, medical care for veterans,
treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and even
funeral services for our fallen soldiers.

Even Ileana Ros-Lehtinen understood the importance of supporting
our veterans and joined other members of Congress, like Senator
Jim Webb whose son serves in the military, in supporting this
important bill.  This was a simple piece of legislation with one
clear goal: give our troops the hero’s welcome they deserve.

Tell Mario Diaz-Balart to support our troops.  Tell him his vote is
unacceptable:

http://joegarcia08.com/OurTroops

Mario Diaz-Balart has voted in favor of the Iraq War at every
opportunity – rubber-stamping the Bush Administration’s
disastrous entanglement over and over again.  The fact that Mario
Diaz-Balart votes to send our troops to war, but then against the
benefits they deserve when they come home, is deplorable.  It also
explains why Americans have lost trust in their government

While there have been many Independents, Libertarians, and Greens running for office in the Elections that are being held in the United States of America in 2008, there are some people within the Democratic Party that are worth mentioning. One of them is Joe Garcia and the upcoming elections for the 25th District of Florida. Joe Garcia is running against incumbent Republican Congressman Mario Diaz Balart with a promise of common sense in a country and district that needs it. Joe Garcia deserves to be mentioned in this life and time.

While I do not know Joe Garcia personally, I have seen him in Versailles Restaurant [a Popular Cuban Restaurant] in Miami Florida talking about politics and other subjects. He would either be talking with those in the tables while waiting for their food. After seeing these reunions, I am reminded of the painting by Rembrandt: “The Syndics of the Cloth maker’s Guild” in which there is a dominance of intellectual discussion. I am also reminded of the discussions that Voltaire [French Writer of the eighteenth century] with the other intellectuals of the day. Yet his intellectual discourse is based on common sense. He is also one of the few Cuban Americans who took the road from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party.

Joe Garcia is a Cuban American Politician who was born in Miami Beach Florida on the twelfth of October 1963 and is currently the Director of the New Democratic Network Hispanic Strategy Center as well as Chairman of the Miami Dade County Democratic Party. He graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in 1982 and went to the University of Miami [Florida] where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science as well as served as Student Body President. He also studied law at the University of Miami where he received his degree.

Joe Garcia has served as a member and chairman of the Florida Public Utilities Commission as well as the Cuban American National Foundation [as Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors]. Joe Garcia has served as Chairman of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commission and Second Vice Chairman of the Southeastern Association of Regulatory Utility Commission.

Joe Garcia presently belongs to the Spanish American League against Discrimination and was a member of the National Association of Latin Elected Officials. Joe Garcia has also been associated with Regis House which is a treatment centre for inner city youths in Miami Florida against drugs and alcohol.

Joe Garcia has the credentials to represent Florida’s District 25 because of these issues and since he has taught people to use common sense approaches to the problems that we as a people are facing. For those who want to accuse Joe Garcia of being a “turncoat”, it is surreal that those who accuse Joe Garcia of being a “turncoat” may have not known him as well. I was once under this impression but being a Cuban American born in Ohio and a Libertarian, I can understand Joe Garcia and how he is able to formulate common sense responses even within intellectual circles. I also consider Joe Garcia a patriot who wants freedom and democracy for the USA and Cuba. His patriotism for the USA is that he wants Miami Dade and Florida as a whole to be a better community [this is my impression at the present time even though I do not know him personally]. After all, Joe Garcia is a family man with a wife and daughter and who does not want the best for their family and country?

Joe Garcia also has the advantage that he has Joe Trippi as Seniour Media Advisor. I wish Joe Garcia the best in his endeavours and it is hoped that he wins in November 2008.

JOE GARCIA
