The Fashion Slaves Are the Newest Craze in American Music

In the year 2011, the music world in the United States of America changed for the better. The Fashion Slaves were created and the world has loved the music ever since. The reason is that The Fashion Slaves sing and interpret real and soulful rock and roll music that reminds people of The Pretenders and Blondie. The only difference is that they write and perform their own material compared with today’s mainstream music whose conglomerates dictate the music to the artist.

The Fashion Slaves are on the verge of recording their first album in the year 2012 and two songs have already made their way to the public. The song “Psychotic Reaction” is one of the first songs recorded by the Fashion Slaves and released on the You Tube videos. What were the origins of the latest craze called The Fashion Slaves?

The Fashion Slaves were formed by two artists from the group called The Uptones which was a Ska Band.  Ska music is a form of music that originated from Jamaica and is a mixture of calypso, jazz, rhythm, and blues.

The two artists were Emily Jayne and Eric Din and they invited Eric Knight from the rock group Engine 88 for bass. The drummer from the Agent Deadlies whose name is Pete D’Amato was the fourth addition to this group.

The Fashion Slaves recorded “Psychotic Reaction” followed by another song called “Styrofoam”. The songs were hits in California and other parts of the world.  Emily Jayne who is the lead singer has been compared with Debbie Harry of Blondie and Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. The only difference is that Emily Jayne continued where they left off and the same applies to The Fashion Slaves.

The other songs in the repertoire of The Fashion Slaves are “Loud Mouth Girl” and “Surfers For Fashion” which are very upbeat in rhythm, tone, heart, and soul.  The new album is that destined for release in the summer of 2012 is called “Check Out The Fashion Slaves” and it is expected to be the catalyst for a liberation of Rock and Roll from the mediocrity of the conglomerates.

It is expected that in the future, more people will ask for The Fashion Slaves and we will be seeing them perform in other parts of the United States of America. The possibility exists that The Fashion Slaves may make a world tour as their popularity grows. The sky is the limit for The Fashion Slaves and their newly minted version of Rock and Roll.

I had lost faith in American Pop Culture until Weird Al Yankovic released “Alpocalypse” to the world. The history of American culture has not been the same since the release of this icon.

The first song from “Alpocalypse” that I heard was the spoof by Yankovic of one of Lady Gaga’s songs. The song “Perform This Way” which is a spoof of “Born This Way” left me laughing to the point of falling on the floor.

I decided to see a video version of “Perform That Way” which shows Yankovic doing the same theatrics that Lady Gaga does but better and funnier. In the beginning of the video, Yankovic hatched out of an egg, walked with his face between his legs, and almost resembled Lady Gaga in his performance in the use of costumes

The song “Perform That Way” also changed my perception of Lady Gaga from a cold artist to a person who has a sense of humor. I could see “Perform That Way” and enjoy the essence of the comic flair of Yankovic and the artistic flair of Lady Gaga.

The song “Polka Face” is a medley/parody of songs recorded by Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Pink, Ludacris, and other artists. The medley/parody is another example of how Weird AL Yankovic has been able to convert some of the mediocre music of today into a work of comic art.

The song “TMZ” is another spoof of the song “You Belong With Me” recorded by Taylor Swift. The song takes a comic turn with an excellent video made by Bill Plympton.

The “TMZ” video shows a woman celebrity wanting to attract attention but the result was a disaster for her and comic for others. The video shows TMZ (by accident) taking a photo of the woman celebrity’s rear end and posting it on the internet.

My interpretation of TMZ is that the American Pop Culture of today has become mundane and artificial to the point that everything is news. The reason for everything becoming news is the advent of social networking sites as well as the internet.

I also recommend the spoof “Party In the CIA” which is a spoof of the song ”Party In The USA” made popular by Miley Cyrus. The last song that deserves recognition is the song “Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me” which is dedicated to junk mail and spam.

Weird Al Yankovic has demonstrated with “Alpocalypse” that he will be remembered as the greatest comedian that the USA has given to the world in the late 20th and early 21st Century.
