Interview With Carlos Aguirre [Gustavo Ruelas Trainer]

The interview was conducted via E Mail.

1. How is Carlos Aguirre as a person in the past as well as present tense?

Carlos Aguirre is and has been a person who is hardworking and whose success comes from sacrifice, dedication, and the desire to improve oneself. He has achieved success on the basis of these factors and is a man of character, dignity, and professional experience but with humility.

2. How did you get started as a football trainer?

I started by learning in all of the spheres about the sport with discipline, dedication, and a burning desire to learn. I also wanted to teach football since I love the sport. My desire to learn and teach was borne of having witnessed many acts of injustice against my people and the desire to help them overcome.

3. What was the level of difficulty in studying to become a football trainer and why?  

There is a reason why studying a career is difficult. When an individual does not have the support makes it even more difficult. What has helped me in spite of my handicaps is the desire to learn. When you put your mind into your dream, nothing is impossible.

4. Gustavo Ruelas is one of the Astros of the Mexican Team Santos Laguna. He is now in Scotland on loan from that team to Celtic FC as part of increasing contacts between the two teams. How was your experience with Gustavo Ruelas during the time that you trained him?

 

               I knew him since he was a child when he was playing in a soccer club during my period as director. I started to train him and the experience was unforgettable including the victories, defeats, and his graduation to different levels. He and his family were also my family.

5.  What was the history of your academy?

I started after seeing many children who did not have the adequate education in sports and without opportunities. It was then that I started an academy based on soccer through hard work, and discipline.

6.  How was the professional life of Gustavo Ruelas?

In the beginning, he was like any player who started with dreams of becoming a professional. He began to mature in soccer because of his discipline, hard work, and the support of his family. It was these qualities that helped him arrive at where he is now which is playing football in Europe.

7. How many students are in your academy?  

Approximately 25 students and the academy continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

8. In addition to Ruelas, have you trained other Astros of football?  

I have not trained other players but have helped them become Astros such as Carlos Ochoa, Juan Nava, and Adrian Flores.

9. Great Britain like the rest of the European Continent seems enchanted with what is going on in Mexican Football. Is this a fad or is it permanent? 

Great Britain and the European Continent are extremely interested in the activities and services of Mexican footballers. There have been many Mexicans playing football since the 1980’s starting with Hugo Sanchez. Since Hugo Sanchez, there have been many others who have immigrated to Europe to play football.

10. How do you compare Gustavo Ruelas with Chicharito Hernández or Giovanni Dos Santos?

At the present time, there is no comparison between these three players. Both of them are of different eras and Ruelas is beginning his career. Only time will tell.

11. What is your advice for those who want a career in sports including football or any career?

My advice is to propose a goal en every aspect whether it is sports or any profession. What you propose you can achieve.Thank you

Brogue: A Scottish Sensation

1. How was Brogue formed?
The concept and the music for Brogue was formed in 2005 as a repercussion of the hard times we were going through in Zimbabwe as musicians trying to survive. We knew there was to be no scope for the future of our music there and so we needed to come up with something else. Hence Brogue was born.  

 

2. What was the purpose behing the recording of Popscots?
When the recession hit us in early 2009, we learned that it had a very big impact on most people here in the UK and the mood in general was very gloomy. It certainly altered the way in which we thought, which in turn affected our music and it changed all our plans. As a result we decided to take on Popscots as a sideline project. We hoped that perhaps it could serve as a way to help lift some people out of the doldrums as it is a carefree, happy and light-hearted non-stop dance album.

3. What is the purpose behind “Rhythm Of The Celts”?
The ‘Rhythm Of The Celts’ was Brogue’s first album. It was a labour of love for us and what we were trying to achieve while recording it was to re-arrange traditional celtic music according to our own acquired inspirations and influences. In general the album boasts a cross between African rhythms and Scottish melodies, with sometimes small motifs from other parts of the world also thrown in for good measure. A little bit of this and a little bit of that; our own audio ‘tapestry’ in a sense.

4. How is Brogue able to accumulate material for recordings such as “Rhythm Of The Celts”?
All our material was recorded using real acoustic instruments wherever possible. Most of the instruments were played by David Scobie, I did play some of the instruments too, but he did the majority of the work when it came to the production and laying each track down one by one. All the female backing vocals you hear on the recordings are my voice and all the male parts are David’s voice. So it really was a collaboration between the two of us, co-arranging and building it up piece by piece, layer by layer.

 

5. What has Brogue done with regards to tours and promotions?

One of the things which we have desperately yearned to do has been to get on the road and to go on tour. We were putting some plans into action during 2008 with the hope and intention of touring in 2009. However, when the recession hit it sadly crushed all our plans and we were forced to put our efforts on hold. It is a very costly thing to do these days and without the correct amount of financial backup and support, we cannot safely go on tour. If we won the lottery today, we would be on the road as quickly as a tour could be put together. Perhaps what we really need is a sponsor who believes in us and our music enough to go on such a journey with us, and to give us the support we need, but until our fortune changes, we will be confined to producing more albums in the studio.

6. Will Brogue tour North America in the future?
If we could afford it and if America wanted us there, absolutely yes!! I couldn’t think of a more exciting prospect.

Los Ultimos Escandalos del Futbol?

El Monstruo de la Cancion Raphael interpeto la cancion “Escandalo” con sus versos pegajosos como “Escandalo Es Un Escandalo…..”. Lo mismo se puede hablar de dos eventos en el futbol cuyo tema es el conflicto de interes en Inglaterra y las actividades anti –sociales en un partido de la UEFA en Bucarest Rumania.

1. Conflicto de Interes

Inglaterra y los Estados Unidos son varios paises compitiendo para convertirse en la sede de la Copa Mundial para el 2018 o 2022. Ambos paises merecen el honor pero solo un pais puede ser anfitrion. Inglaterra no ha sido anfitrion desde 1966 y ser sede seria justicia para un pais considerado la cuna del futbol.

Los Estados Unidos de Norteamerica fue anfitiron para la Copa Mundial 1994. Desde entonces, el futbol logro crecer en lo maximo con los EEUU participando en las Copas Mundiales 1998, 2002, y 2006. Incluso, los Estados Unidos clasifico para la Copa Mundial 2010 y esta en primer lugar en la Liga CONCACAF.

Los Estados Unidos merece ser anfitrion pues mostro que el futbol ha crecido con ligas en todas las esferas en los colegios y universidades. Hay varias ligas como la MLS. Incluso, sus hinchas llenan los estadios par aver a sus jugadores. La diferencia entre Inglaterra y EEUU fue su comportamiento en presencia de los delegados de la FIFA.

Durante su estadia en Inglaterra, las esposas de los delegados de la FIFA que debe hacer una decision sobre el anfitrion para la Copa Mundial 2018 o 2022 reciberon carteras de los representantes de la causa inglesa de la Copa Mundial. La Cadena Internacional de la BBC de Londres anoto que fue extra~no los regales.

Un representante de la FIFA tuvo que devolver una de las carteras mientras que Inglaterra espera una decision de la organizacion. Considero que la FIFA debe tomar la decision en suspender a Inglaterra de aplicar para ser anfitrion hasta despues de 2026. La razon radica en que los regalos son un conflict de interes.

Que pasaria si los EEUU hubiese hecho esa gracia? Todo el mundo estaria crucifcando al equipo de lo EEUU. Considero apropiado que este tipo de conflict de interes merece un castigo con la FIFA hacienda una nota en lo que constituye el comportamiento de un equipo o pais que quiere convertirse en anfitrion.

1. Comportamiento Anti Social

La ciudad de Bucarest en Rumania fue testigo deuna ola de violencia durante el partido entre el club escoces Rangers y el club rumano Unirena Urziceni. Durante el partido, un grupo de hinchas de Rangers iniciaron un acto de violencia contra la propiedad y algunos de los miembros de la seguridad encargada en el estadio del partido.

La respuesta de la UEFA no tardo cuando la organizacion anuncio que el club Rangers tendra que pagar los platos rotos de sus hinchas. Es possible que el castigo sera severo pero es necesario. No hay ningun lugar en el futbol para actividades anti sociales ni el racismo . El equipo tendra que pagar los platos rotos y ser responsible por las consecuencias.

Los medios de comunicaciones son responsible de entablar una denuncia contra los cancers afectando nuestro futbol con la meta de eliminarlo. Aunque no se puede resolver todos los problemas, se puede disminuir la frecuencia.

UEFA Is Justified In Punishing the Rangers

During the UEFA Championship games between the Glasgow based Rangers and the Romanian Team Unirea Urziceni, it appeared that anti social behavior is still prevalent in football [soccer].

While the origins as to what happened is still a matter of debate, it cannot be denied that certain supporters of the Rangers were engaged in behaviour such as the destruction of private property in the stadium and arguing with authorities sent to police the stadium.

The majority of the Rangers supporters are nice and decent human beings who have the bad luck to be paired with a minority whose appetite for destruction supersedes the interest in the team and the game.

While the UEFA is still planning to meet over the incident, they have decided that the Rangers should be held responsible for the behavior of the few. It is a decision that is applauded by the underwriter.

It has been written and rewritten countless times that hooliganism, racism, and other forms of anti social behaviour regardless of its origins should not be tolerated. It destroys the integrity of the game and leaves a bitter taste with the team supporters.

The people who love football [soccer] should unite in deeds as well as in words and praise UEFA for its decision against the Rangers. They should also say “Enough Is Enough” and take measures to put the hooligans and other anti social elements where they belong which is a prison cell.

Mark Hateley: A Tribute

Mark Hateley was also known as Atilla in the circles of the Rangers FC secondary to his position as a striker that inspired fear in the defenders of the opposing team. It is also this reputation as one of the greatest in English Football [Soccer] that earned him an honorable mention in this article.

Mark Hateley was born on the seventh of November 1961 in Derby, Derbyshire, England. His father whose name is Tony Hateley was a striker for Notts County, Chelsea, and Liverpool. The career of Mark Hateley spanned two decades and was notable for two hundred and twenty goals within five hundred and eighty nine appearances.

He played for Coventry City, Detroit Express, Portsmouth, and AC Milan, AS Monaco, Rangers, QPR [which is Queens Park Rangers], Leeds United, Rangers, Hull City, and Ross County. Mark Hately also played for the English National Team and was able to score sixteen goals in forty two appearances. He was a recipient of thirty two caps for the English National Team.

Regardless of his achievements in England, he was unable to prevent the relegation of QPR [Queens Park Ranger] during his period with the team and left afterwards in spite of scoring five goals within thirty three appearances.

Mark Hateley was also a manager of the Hull City FC for two years but left after attempting to reverse the fortunes of the club. It was also during this time that Hull City almost went into relegation status. Unfortunately, he was unable to resolve the problems of Hull City which were created by previous managers.

His biggest mark was his career with the Rangers FC in which he scored one hundred and twelve goals within two hundred and eighteen appearances. During his career with the Rangers FC, he scored a 2-0 victory against Aberdeen to win the 1990-1991 Scottish Premier Division for his team.

At a time when the Rangers were demoralized during a game against Celtic, he scored one goal and the Rangers felt better and were able to win their game. Mark Hateley remains associated with the Rangers FC in the hospitality section and works as a commentator for the Scottish Premier League Matches for the Setanta Sports Channel based in Ireland.

Mark Hateley is also a commentator for the Daily Record which is a magazine dedicated to Scottish News and Sports. He is also a recipient of the Scottish Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year. My best wishes to him.

Scotland

This Saturday’s Game between Scotland and Italy will see Roberto supporting Scotland. Scotland has proven itself to be a strong contender in this season’s Euro 2008 even when some mistakes were made. I hope Scotland wins in order to have a decent classification and an outright victory in Euro 2008.

Another reason for supporting a Scottish victory was because of the malaise that resulted from the Italian Football Games in which one fan was shot by a police followed by riots. Italy must reform its football if it wants to be a serious contender for any future UEFA Games.

Lawro predicted a draw between Scotland and Italy. I dare to predict a 2 to 0 victory.
