El Relajo de Los Democratas

Publicado en Comentarios, Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Marzo 6th, 2008

Say Yes To Absentee Ballots

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Marzo 3rd, 2008

According to the US Constitution, and the Laws governing Citizenship in the USA; if a US Citizen lives abroad and has not renounced his or her United States Citizenship then there is a right to vote. After all, the United States of America [better yet, the Republicans and Democrats who misgovern the United States of America] taxes citizens of the United States of America on the basis of their salaries abroad. If Absentee Ballots were to be removed, the Republicans and Democrats would be behaving like tyrants who practiced taxation without representation. The same hypocrisy that applied to Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua when he did not allow Nicaraguans living abroad to vote but accepted the money from people abroad is the same thing that has been proposed. The people who do not like the idea of absentee ballots are the ones who are afraid of losing their power, their privileges which were ill gained and illegitimate from the beginning. What about those who cannot go out because of illness or a fear of having to go outside? If a person has not been declared incompetent to vote yet prefers the comfort of voting from his or her own house or is bedridden secondary to illness of a physical nature, they have a right to express their preferences and make their vote count. I could still remember when I was studying Medicine in the Dominican Republic how I expressed my vote in 1984. One of my friends went with me and helped me go to the American Embassy in the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where I placed my vote for Ronald Reagan. I never regretted that use of absentee ballot. In fact, there should even be voting via the Internet with a Secure System so as not to have vote tampering. The Elections should also proceed with Twenty First Technology by abolishing Eighteenth Century Gimmicks such as the Electoral College and the Primaries. The powers that dominate the United States of America if they are true to the words of their party such as Democratic and Republican should not be afraid of the will of the people and permit absentee ballots. Unfortunately, there are Democrats and Republicans who have reached the point of being afraid of the will of the people. I challenge the people of the United States of America to say yes to the right of Absentee Ballots and vote out those who want to remove absentee ballots.

Last Chance in Ohio and Texas

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Marzo 3rd, 2008

As I am writing this article, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are nearing the day of reckoning in two states which are Ohio and Texas. In the State of Ohio for the Democrats and with one hundred and sixty one delegates at stake, the results as of the fourth of March 2008 shows Clinton at 48.2% and Obama at 42.8% according to the Real Clear Politics Blog after taking into account statistics such as Rasmussen, FOX News, Quinnipac, Suffolk, and the Plain Dealer favouring Clinton and Reuters favouring Obama. The State of Texas is a different thing altogether. The State of Texas has two hundred and twenty eight delegates at stake and it appears that as of the Fourth of March 2008, Barack Obama is holding a slight lead over Clinton with 46.3% of the vote in favour of Obama compared to 45.2% for Clinton according To the Real Clear Politics Blog and after careful study of the statistics of Reuters, WFAA, Belo, Star Telegram, Rasmussen which either favour Obama or predicts a tie [as is the case of WFAA and Belo]. The only exception to the rule is Insider Advantage which gives Clinton a lead over Obama. Personally, I am not an astrologer and the fact is that these statistics give an overall view of what is transpiring in Ohio and Texas. Many things can occur between the Fourth of March 2008 at 10:55AM Eastern Savings Time and the actual time the results are delivered.

What can be said is that since Obama has been winning almost every Primary with some exceptions by Clinton, we have to conclude that this is not an election but a wrestling and boxing match that only people like Jesse Ventura and Don King could have dreamed of. The issues have taken a back seat to the personal fights as well as counteraccusations of plagiarism or as Hillary Clinton told Obama in the Cleveland Ohio debate: “Stop Xeroxing my copy”. Of course, the other issue has been health care which would be mandatory according to Hillary Clinton with Barrack Obama saying that he will have a voluntary health care system. Of course, Hillary Clinton forgot to ask Barack Obama where he will get two hundred and ten billion dollars for his recovery package that promises repair of infrastructure and jobs for the people.

American Health Choices Plan

Publicado en Elecciones, Salud by alvarezgalloso on Marzo 3rd, 2008

Hillary Clinton stated that she drafted her Health Care Plan after meeting a couple John and Judy Rose in Dubuque Illinois who lost their savings because of being unable to pay the health care bills. She named her plan American Health Choices Plan. It must be remembered that after the failure of an attempt at Health Care Reform, states such as Maine, Kentucky, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Nevada embarked on Health Care Reform with some positive and negative results which can be discussed in the future. Oregon embarked on Health Care Reform before the Clinton Years and has been undergoing positive and negative results as well. The theory behind American Health Choices Plan is the following: If the person is happy with his or her health coverage, he or she can keep their health care coverage via their individual coverage or employer. If the person is not happy with his or her health coverage, the person has two choices which would be either to choose a quality public plan option that is similar to Medicare or to choose from the health options that Members of Congress enjoy. I am not surprised that our Members of Congress have a Health Option superior to the Citizens of the United States of America. This is a reinforcement of the fact that Congress behaves like royalty.American Health Choices Plan would reduce costs with the intention of placing emphasis on prevention, focusing on efficiency and modernization and reducing hidden taxes. The intention of American Health Choices Plan is great yet the Health Care Program of Kentucky [Kentucky Health Care] stresses Lowering Costs by Prevention. There are also portions which guarantee an end to insurance discrimination, places an emphasis on fiscal responsibility on the part of the protagonists in the Health Care Scene [such as the Health Care Profession, Politicians, The Insurance Companies, and the Patients], and reinvestments. The overall savings would amount to One Hundred and Ten Billion Dollars.American Health Choices Plan seems great and is better than the proposal of Barack Obama of two hundred and ten billion dollars but again where will we receive the money. Remembering how people suggested the separation of the state from religion, I think it would be better to separate health care from the state, separate health care from the insurance companies, and separate health care from those who have no knowledge about health care. The protagonists in Health Care should be the Patient and His or Her Provider. Every time and Insurance Company or the State has interfered in the Health Care of the Individual, it is the Individual who loses.

Barack Obama [A Personal Reflection]

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 28th, 2008

Ever since the photo of Obama in a turban appeared in the Drudge Report, the people have been saying about the photo of the turban. I do not think that it would hurt Obama’s chance at the Democratic Nomination. The publicity surrounding the photo of Obama is an act of Anti Americanism on the part of the US Elite of Republicans and Democrats. It has always been a part of history that the Republicans and Democrats use Anti American Tactics to smear each other and now national clothing are being used as a means. All of the Anti American Activities of the Republicans and Democrats have damaged the chances of both parties in the future. I myself am a Libertarian voting for George Phillies.

I am sick and tired of the Anti American Ranting of the US Elite called the Republicans and Democrats as well as the US Media inventing an Americanism that borders on ethnic hatred, class hatred, and hatred of all types. Regardless of whether a person belongs to an ethnic group, religion, state, or the clothes he or she wears should not interfere in the election or nomination process. The important thing is that the person is a good person willing to find the best solutions for his or her country. If the people who talk about a photo of Obama in a turban have nothing else to do, I have a suggestion for them. I have a suggestion for the people who are doing soap opera like reporting in stations such as NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, and ABC instead of reporting on the serious business of who will be the next President of the United States of America, learn from NNN [Naked News Network].

I propose that the people who are always talking about whether one candidate used a turban or another candidate insulted another candidate should imitate the people of Naked News Network and do the news in the nude. My reason is that it is not the clothes that make a person. It is the internal character of the person that determines the worth of the individual. The US Elite should stop it game of turban and start to loosen up a little. I can assure you that the reporter in NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, or even CNN that wears the suit and tie or the suit and dress would at an opportunity would either do the news in the nude or at least dress with a casual dress style. For those who do not understand irony, I am just saying that clothing does not make the person. It is the inside of the individual that counts.

Barack Obama is reaching a point in his life that in another era not so long ago would have been prohibited for any one who is African American or a Woman. In order to arrive at the point where Obama is, we must review briefly the history of the United States of America. There was a saying in the US Latin Community in which those who immigrated from Europe and Latin America would tell those born in the United States of America: “You can be President of the United States of America”. The reality was that the Presidency was the domain of White Anglo Saxon Americans who call themselves Americans but in reality were expelled from England and other parts of Europe in the name of freedom or for being intolerant of other people’s cultures [like the Puritans in England]. This same group of people who stole land from the indigenous population in a form of ethnic cleansing, enslaved Africans, created instability in other countries for the sake of cheap professional labour, and took some land from Mexico were the ones who wrote the rules and everyone else followed. The same applied for party affiliation. If a White Anglo Saxon American Male was a Republican and Democrat, he could become President. If a White Anglo Saxon American Male was a member of the Libertarian or Green Party member, there were no chances of becoming President because of the archaic election rules such as the Electoral College and the Primaries.

In the year 2008, the people of the United States of America were resigned to a monarchy with a Bush Clinton Dynasty. The people who even supported a Bush Clinton Dynasty had their own website. The year 2008 was going to be another boring year until the upsets by Barack Obama and the endorsements started coming at his direction. The Establishment responded in all of the vile ways possible and even using smear tactics. Everything now hinges on Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Rhode Island with Ohio and Texas being the biggest prize of them all. I would not be surprised of Obama won the last primaries and secured the Presidential Nomination for the Democratic Party.

The Debate in Ohio or the Debacle in Ohio showed a Hillary Clinton that was continuously interrupting Barrack Obama when he was trying to explain his economic and health care package including the Twenty One Billion Dollars for an Economic Recovery Package. It was obvious in the Presidential Debate of the Democratic Party which was held in Cleveland State University Campus and broadcasted by MSNBC and WKYC 3 News that Hillary Clinton was about ready to explode every time Obama talked. It appeared that the US Elite was willing to accept any President except Obama. Even if Obama does not win the Presidency, the fact that he went farther than anyone imagined is a testament to the will of a person and the desire of a group such as the African Americans to rise in spite of all obstacles.

I hope that we the Libertarians or even the US Latin Community could arrive at such an opportunity. For the detractors who say otherwise, if an African American could become President, why not a US Latin who is articulate in English and a member of a truly American Party called the Libertarian Party?

DEBACLE IN OHIO

Our troops die while Clinton and Obama are practicing the latest wrestling techniques for the brawl in Cleveland. The people of the USA in a majority are in danger of becoming like the people of Cuba willing to accept anything as long as there is some comfort. It does not have to be, I challenge the people of the USA to say “Enough Is Enough” and throw out the Republicans and Democrats. The replacement should be George Phillies and the Libertarian Party.

Clinton and Obama debated in Cleveland Ohio under the sponsorship of Cleveland State University. The debate was transmitted by MSNBC and WKYC 3. Clinton started the sick comedy and wrestling match by lashing out at Obama for distortion and making denied using smear tactics against Obama. Clinton talked about her health plan being a Universal Mandatory Health Care System interrupting Obama constantly and disparaging his health care system which would not be mandatory. When Obama started talking about Health Care, Clinton appeared like she was ready to explode like a volcano and would express her opinions forcefully while Obama was talking. Obama even stated that Medicare Part B was a voluntary programme that people bought because it was a great programme.

The next order of the day was NAFTA [North American Free Trade Agreement] in which both admitted supporting in the beginning but would opt out in six months. I have a personal opinion of NAFTA. I was born in Ohio and I do not agree with the idea of opting out of NAFTA. It would be the equivalent of shooting oneself in the foot. While some people and states have benefited and others have not, I am of the opinion [I was raised in Ohio during the 1960’s and 1970’s] that Ohio and other Midwestern States in its majority did not prepare themselves for the changes that were to come. Ohio and other Midwestern States depended on the auto, petroleum, and rubber industry with the majority of people having the attitude of school, college, family, and factory work while complaining about the professional class and other people who were more successful for their troubles. It did not help that Ohio had Governors such as Rhodes [who ran Ohio like a personal property], Gilligan, Celeste, and other governors who did not help the situation. People have a responsibility to prepare themselves.

The Wrestling Match ended with both fighters exhausted and no clear winner. Tim Russert was a great moderator as well as Brian Williams. Both Russert and Williams were a stabilizing presence in the Debacle in Ohio.

Nader 2008

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 24th, 2008

MSNBC broadcasted in its breaking news segment that Raplh Nader was running for President of the United States as an Independent Candidate in the year 2008. Ralph Nader was and is a force in the political arena in the United States of America from the 1960’s. Ralph Nader was a rare child of the 1960’s with his suit and tie in the middle of those who were wearing long hair and bell bottoms. Ralph Nader was later to serve as some form of Comic Relief for television shows of the 1960’s and 1970’s called “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In” and the various incarnations of “The Sonny and Cher Show”.

Ralph Nader’s attempts at political office were noticeable failures yet the Democrats have blamed him for the Republican Victories of the 2000 and 2004 Elections. The Republicans did not win the White House because of Ralph Nader taking away votes from the Democrats. The Republicans and Democrats could have won the Presidential Elections since the votes of Ralph Nader [according to the United States Elite and the United States Mainstream Media] did not affect the balance nor the statistics.

I ask this of the United States Mainstream Press and the United States Elite, why the publicity for Ralph Nader when there are serious candidates such as George Phillies? I have another question, if the vote for a Third Party is a wasted vote, why did the Republicans and Democrats nullify 57,000 signatures from the Libertarian Party Petition to place Michael Badnarik on the ballot? If the vote of a third party or an independent is a wasted vote, why so much publicity for Ralph Nader who is just simply running for President to keep his name on the front page of a newspaper or a Television Station?

Ralph Nader does not have the electric charge of the messages of the Libertarian Party and George Phillies. Ralph Nader is a person who had his time in the decade of the 1960’s and should bow out and let others take the mantle of the Independent Candidacy for President. In other words, Ralph Nader should retire.

Nader en el 2008?

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 24th, 2008

Obama, Univision, CNN Wins In Texas Debate

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 22nd, 2008

There was the debate between the Democratic Presidential Candidates between Hillary Clinton and Baracak Obama in Texas and aired by CNN and Univision. The debate was full of hot topics such as Cuba, Immigration, and Health Care Reforms. Other subjects came to the forefront of the discussion later on into the debate. The moderators were Campbell Brown for CNN and Jorge Ramos for Univision who did their homework before participating.

On the issue of Cuba, Hillary Clinton stated that she was willing to talk to Raul Castro when conditions such as release of political prisoners, opening of the political process, and some form of free elections and reconciliation. Barack Obama was forced to change his earlier position of meeting with the Castro Brothers in order to fit with the environment in Texas.

Immigration was another hot topic in which both agreed that they approved of the construction of the wall between the United States of America and Mexico only to see that the law split communities including the University of Texas Campus. Both candidates reiterated on the need to learn English but also to prepare for a bilingual and multilingual world. Both candidates acknowledged that the United States of America cannot afford to isolate itself from the rest of the world.

When Mrs.Clinton and Mr.Obama started to discuss Health Care, it appeared that the tension was building regardless of the language with Obama talking about a voluntary programme and Hillary Clinton talking about a mandatory programme. When Jorge Ramos of Univision attempted to ask Mrs. Clinton about whether Barack Obama was “Presidential Material”, Hillary Clinton cut him off by insisting on answering the questions on Health Care and the need to for it to be mandatory. Personally, it is not considered good manners nor presidential to cut off a journalist when he or she is asking a question. Mrs. Clinton may have lost some points with her interruptions. Campbell Brown appeared shocked that such an interruption occurred.

Mrs. Clinton and Mr.Obama started arguing with each other on the subject of plagiarism with Mrs. Clinton accusing Mr. Obama of “Xeroxing Changes”. This term appears to be a new one but Mr. Obama replied that he had received permission from his speechmaker and that “little subjects “ should not be addressed. Mr. Obama talked about the need toresolve the problems of getting the United States of America back on a stable course.

The winner in my opinion was Barack Obama, and the CNN Journalists in collaboration with Univision.

PS: I forgot to add that even though Obama won the debate, he did not answer the question I sent to him via CNN about his 210 Billion Dollar Recovery Package. Where will he get the money?

Primary Debate Reflections

Publicado en Elecciones by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 22nd, 2008

I could care less who wins the White House especially when the Electoral Process is rigged in favour of the Republicans and Democrats who care more about their interests than the interests of the people. In the year 2008, the Republicans or Democrats will win and they will continue their oppression of the people by mind numbing television and making promises that will never be kept. The way for an election to be meaningful is to have the Electoral College and Primaries abolished. The Primaries proved that certain people vote for a certain candidate followed by the soundbites. The only good thing that the Primaries achieve is making money which in that case I took advantage and took photos of the Florida Primaries. The Electoral College is an outdated method as well which favours the bigger parties called the Republicans and Democrats. While it would be better if the White House was won by the Libertarian Party or the Green Party, it is impossible given the rules written by the elite.

I myself would care less who won the Presidency because whoever wins will serve as a point of reference for some of my satirical works. Of course I have a solution which is an overhaul of the electoral process in favour of direct party conventions in which the political parties elect their nominee in a one person one vote scenario with the people who belong to the political party actually going to the convention and paying money to represent their state [in the same way that the American Medical Association meets].

After the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of the Political Parties are chosen, then there are the debates if the Republicans and Democrats have the courage to face the Libertarians and Green in a debate. The debates would be three debates and three weeks after the debates, the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections with the persons receiving the most vote winning.

Until this scenario changes, or unless the people of America wake up; the elections will produce dull and mediocre presidents from dull and mediocre political parties and almost meaningless discussion on how to get the United States of America back on its feet.

In addition to a biography of Barack Obama, it was interesting to add his family tree. These were revelations that were taken from sources in MSNBC and the BBC. I wanted to share them with Helium.
I would like to add some spice to the 2008 Presidential campaign being run by the Republicans and Democrats, the press reported a revelation by Mrs. Cheney that Barrack Obama [A senator from Illinois and a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for President of the USA] is a distant cousin of US Vice-President Dick Cheney [Republican]. According to a declaration made by Mrs. Cheney to MSNBC, the common ancestor of Obama and Cheney was a 17th century immigrant from France, whose name was Mareen Devall.

Kenyan Opposition Presidential candidate Raila Odinga declared (in an interview with the BBC) that he is a cousin of Barack Obama and the two have talked on the telephone between the time they got amidst their respective work. Obama is working in the US Presidential campaign. Odinga is trying to help resolve the election dilemma in Kenya.

It should be stated that Obama also talked with the President of Kenya, Kibaki expressing his preoccupation with the situation in Kenya but refrained from discussing the political situation with Odinga and Kibaki. According to Odinga, Obama’s father was from the Luo community in Kenya and was his maternal uncle. Obama’s father met his wife (an Anglo-Saxon American from Kansas) while both were studying in the University of Hawaii.

After the marriage of Obama’s parents, both of them divorced when Barack Obama was two years old. Obama’s father returned to Kenya and later died in an accident. Obama’s mother eventually married an Indonesian national and she lived in Indonesia with her son before returning to the USA.

The Obama family tree is proof that the human race is interconnected. This serves as proof of globalisation. But it does not determine who could be the best President of the USA and I could care less. Deng Xiaoping (a leader in China) once said: “Who cares where the cat comes from as long as it catches mice”.

I have a suggestion for those who make false accusations against Ron Paul. Jesus Christ once said that “He Who is Without Sin Should Cast The First Stone” If anything, Ron Paul and his supporters have been victims of Acts of Repudiation on the part of the US Mainstream Media and the Republican and Democratic Establishment for being the lone voice of reason in a country that is slowly losing its freedom, dignity, and integrity. The Republicans and Democrats with their mainstream media have a way of spamming people’s brains with their non stop chatter at MSNBC, FOX, CBS, NBC, and CNN and the people the majority of them believe everything that is said and heard on these stations.
There was one incident in which a Minnesota Police person ticketed a Ron Paul Supporter Five Hundred and Fifty Dollars for supposedly disturbing traffic when in reality he had his Ron Paul Sticker. There have been incidences in Florida in the days leading to the Florida Primaries that Mc Cain, Huckabee, Romney, Clinton, Obama, and Giuliani supporters have torn down the signs and placcards which were put in place with tender loving care with Ron Paul Supporters. These are the peoplemwho kill and maim innocent people, leave them homeless and destitute with their bankrupt policies and then saying “You have to Live With It”.
While I am voting for George Phillies and The Libertarian Party and I was in disagreement with Ron Paul running as a Republican, Ron Paul has been the whipping boy of the Republican and Democratic Establishment. While I was opposed to the Libertarian Party offering Ron Paul the nomination for President, maybe it was a tactic to see what the reaction has been. Liberty is a torch that cannot be quenched. If there is anything that comes out of what has happened to Ron Paul, I congratulate Press TV and Al Jazeera for its unbaised coverage of the US Presidential Elections and the candidates that deserve to be reported such as the Alternative Parties and Ron Paul.
Before the Republicans and Democrats with their US Mainstream Media start their smear tactics, they should look themselves in the mirror. The words of Tyranny and Hypocrisy is written all over the faces of the US Leadership in Washington.

It must be remembered that the third parties should be known as alternative parties. The Alternative Parties have more discussion and make sense compared to the dull governing elite that come out of their caves in Washington DC to mingle with the people they claim to represent. The Alterative Parties such as the Libertarians under George Phillies have a lot to offer especially when George Phillies is articulate, sure of himself, and defended the country during Vietnam when the Clintons burned the US Flag in Great Britain and when the Bush people were busy serving as members of the National Guard in Texas in order to avoide being drafted.

George Phillies of the Libertarian Party has the wonderful idea that is so American called “Freedom, Dignity, Responsibility, and Integrity” and the people who could vote are suffering from a numbing of the mind to the point that they prefer the circus of the Republicans and Democrats. At least the youth of our day are beginning to ask for change in the same way the people in Cuba are asking for change. George Phillies wants us to return to our American Roots of the Constitution and avoid entangling alliances. George Phillies wants the American People to assume responsibilities for their actions in the good or bad. George Phillies wants the American People to cast out hatred and sadness in favour of regaining our Freedom, Dignity, Responsibility, and Integrity”.

While I cannot force people to vote one way, I will say that those who vote for a candidate Republican or Democrat and wants to sacrifice their freedom for security are in the words of the great patriot Benjamin Franklin neither deserve freedom or security. I also remember the words of Patrick Henry which states “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death”. The Libertarian Party and George Phillies stands for the separation of Church and State, Separation of School and State, and end to a disastrous war in Iraq, and end to these foolish commitments abroad, a free trade agreement in which the world benefits, and the right to dignity.
I close with the words of the President of Guinea Ahmed Sekou Toure [from 1958 to 1984] taking into account that he left the nation of Guinea mired in poverty and totalitarianism: “I prefer the poverty of liberty to the richness of slavery”. It appears that the United States of America except for the younger generation prefer the richness of slavery, the security of slavery to the poverty and risk of freedom.
