Battle At Stamford Bridge

BATTLE AT STAMFORD BRIDGE

After the Chelsea VS Manchester United game in which Chelsea emerged victorious, three Manchester United Players were recovering from their loss when the staff at Chelsea told to recover elsewhere. The result was a scuffle between the Chelsea Staff and the three Manchester United Players.

While I understand the intense rivalry that exists between Chelsea and Manchester United [as well as the fact that I support both teams], it is unfair to both teams and to football that rivalries can spark into scuffles. It would be better if both teams investigated the footage that they have before making any judgment calls and find a way to resolve this situation. It would also be great if Chelsea and Manchester United were to cooperate with the FA to resolve the incident between Chelsea and three Manchester United Players.

When there are acts of violence in football off or on the field, it constitutes a blemish on both teams and on football as a whole. If I was a judge who had to rule on this latest travesty of our beloved sport, I would have examined all of the evidence. After examining the evidence, I would have punished the people who were involved without having to punish the teams involved. The punishment that I would have given would have been a one game suspension for the Manchester United Players and a one week suspension for the Chelsea Staff [without pay] that were involved in the scuffle followed by a warning. I would do this because I love football. I love football to the point that I attack the cancers that want to give it a bad name whether it is a minor fight, a major fight, or even acts of hooliganism regardless of who started these acts. Football should say no to violence of any kind on or off the field.

I would like to congratulate Rio Ferdinand for his apology to the female steward after accidentally kicking her after the penalty winner by Ballack. I am also glad that the female steward accepted his apology [and the flowers] and forgave him. Rio Ferdinand deserves my praise for his action and his action has done more to prove that there is good as well as bad in football. It was a pity that the press did not put emphasis on this good deed but concentrated on the negative aspect of the game between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Injusticia en la Liga Inglesa

Publicado en Chelsea, Futbol by alvarezgalloso on Marzo 30th, 2008

Injustice against Chelsea and Everton

CHELSEA AND EVERTON: A PERSONAL REFLECTION

I was trying to take time off from writing secondary to being bedridden for extreme allergic reactions when I read about the postponing of the Chelsea VS Everton for the 17th of April 2008 at the Chelsea and BBC Sports Webpage. My response was one of anger and the fact that my head and left side of my body is burning with pain. This is the football equivalent of a punch in the groins and face from the Premier League and from the media.

While The Premier League and certain members of the media can defend their decision with pitiful excuses, they have told Chelsea and Everton that their opinions count for nothing. Chelsea and Everton were looking forward to the fixture on the 29th of March 2008 only to have their dreams of a game ruined by an arbitrary decision of the Premier League.

The worst part is that Chelsea will now play two games within seventy two hours as Chelsea will play Wigan on the 14th of April 2008. What about the health of the Chelsea Players for both games within seventy two hours?

I have some questions for the Premier League; Did you ever take into account that there were people who made plans ahead of times. There were fathers ready to take their sons or daughters to their first football match. What about those who paid for the tickets for the 29th of March 2008 fixture? What about those who take time off from their work in the private or public sector to see Chelsea play Everton on the 29th of March 2008? Does the Premier League have any answers to these questions? Does the Media take into account these people who watch the television and wanted to go to a live match?

What the Premier League has done [as well as certain members of the media] was an act of injustice. It appears that the Premier League and certain members of the Media are concerned about publicity and a perfect televised game than the welfare of the teams such as Chelsea and Everton [which also includes the team members and the club supporters]. The Premier League cannot correct their error but maybe they should take the big step and explain to the supporters of the Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs and the teams their reasons. If it were for me, I would have done my own version of the Tiswas show [1970’s] and given the people who participated in this decision a pie in the face and water.

Everton is right in that this could set a precedent for future changes. Maybe the Premier League will prepare a fixture report for the 2008-2009 season and then make changes behind the backs of the football clubs and their supporters. What the Premier League has done is morally wrong and they should atone for their decision to ruin the lives of the Chelsea and Everton Clubs as well as their supporters. The decision by the Premier League to change the fixture between Chelsea and Everton has been condemned in other parts of the world including Miami Florida. Maybe our opinions do not count but football supporters of the world deserve to make their voices heard about this controversial decision. The same applies for those who are inside England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. May God Bless, Protect, and Help Chelsea, Everton, and the rest of the teams that play in the Premier League.

RACISM AND HOOLIGANISM SUCKS

Publicado en Chelsea by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 20th, 2008

I am reading about the threats to Avram Grant and his wife on the BBC Sports Website. Avram Grant is the coach for the Chelsea Football Club who replaced Jose Mourinho after his resignation. The threats were in the form of Anti Semitic Remarks with the presence of powder in the letter and the envelope. The letter was open by one of the members of the Chelsea Football Club Staff and commented about a “slow and painful death for Grant and his wife”. The police in Surrey [where the incident took place] have initiated an investigation.

The police deserve credit for initiating the investigation and it is hoped that the perpetrator of this threatening behaviour is caught and punished. The staff member should not have opened the letter but should have turned it to the police. In America, there was an incident of anthrax powder sent to the offices of NBC [National Broadcasting Corporation] in New York and the person who opened the letter died of anthrax poisoning. This is a warning for those never to open suspicious letters or packages.

After commenting about safety and finding justice, it should be remembered [and I will continue to say this as long as racism and hooliganism persists in football [soccer] or as long as I have breath in my heart and soul] that racism and hooliganism is incompatible with football [soccer]. I support the efforts of Football [Soccer] teams, Journalists, and organizations such as Kick It Out to eradicate the cancer called Hooliganism and Racism that eats at the heart of our beloved sport.

I challenge those who support football [soccer] and their teams to follow the example of Thierry Henry to combat racism and hooliganism wherever it rears its ugly head. I have no patience for those who ruin our game for the sake of their personal frustrations. We must denounce acts of hooliganism and racism and those who commit such acts should be expelled permanently from games or at least receive an ASBO [Anti Social Behaviour Ordinance]. In fact, the United States of America should copy the model of Great Britain and impose ASBO [Anti Social Behaviour Ordinance] on those who ruin sport events or other events designed to enlighten, entertain, and make us forget the agonies of our daily lives albeit for a short time.

A Tribute to The Special One

Publicado en Chelsea, Futbol by alvarezgalloso on Febrero 14th, 2008

After reading the works of other writers concerning the Special One or Jose Mourinho, I have decided that Jose Mourinho deserves a special mention and an objective article. He was stronger in the area of management and he had the advantage of being from a football family on his fathers’ side of the family. He was weak as a player of the actual game of football [soccer].

Jose Mourinho’s father was Felix Mourinho who was a goalkeeper for the teams Belenenses and Vitoria de Setubal. His godfather was the Chairman of Vitoria de Setubal. Jose Mourinho after some struggle with his mother and with his school was able to enroll in ISEF [Instituto Superior de Educac~ao Fisico] which became Faculdade de Motricidade Humana of the Technical University of Lisboa. He completed his five years at ISEF and received his degree in Physical Education with the specialty of Sports Methodology. He later on went to study in Scotland where he received his degree in as a UEFA Coach.

His success came as coach with Benfica, UD Leiria, F.C. Porto, and Chelsea. He proved himself within the Portuguese League and was able to take Benfica, UD Leiria, and F.C Porto to heights within the Portuguese League before being offered the job at Chelsea. Even before being offered the job at Chelsea, he preferred to be a coach at Liverpool. Regardless, Mourinho became Chelsea Coach in the year 2004 with a salary of 4.2 Million British Pounds a year which was subsequently increased to 5.2 Million British Pounds a year.

It was in Chelsea that Mourinho earned the moniker “The Special One” although there were announcers who used “The Great One’ secondary to his press conference in which he stated the following: Please don’t call me arrogant, but I’m European champion and I think I’m a special one”. Chelsea under Mourinho won all of its home games and won six trophies for Chelsea in three years such as the FA Cup, FA Premier League, Football League Cup, and the FA Community Shield. His time at Chelsea was marred by a terrible relationship with Roman Abramovich. Abramovich was worried about money than he was about football [soccer]. In fact, Abramovich took the opportunity [in my opinion] to have Mourinho dismissed after poor results in the beginning of the 2007 and 2008 season.

Of course, Mourinho also brought some of the problems on his own by fighting with Ashley Cole, Arsene Wenger, and Andrew Johnson. Mourinho also had an altercation with a twelve year old boy in November 2007. This altercation was reported by the BBC with Mourinho apologizing to the child, his parents, and the child’s school. Who cannot forget that Mourinho was arrested in May 2007 for obstructing the police in an attempt to quarantine his dog? It is these defects that while reprehensible were used by the press in an attempt to discredit Chelsea and Mourinho in favour of Abramovich.   After leaving Chelsea, he was offered the post of National Coach for England which he refused. The post of National Coach for England went to Fabio Capello with Mourinho currently unemployed. Mourinho has been linked with the possibility of coaching AC Milan with Drogba as one of his principal players. Attempts to talk with AC Milan and Silvio Berlusconi who is the owner of AC Milan and a former Prime Minister of Italy have not been successful.

The Future for Drogba and Mourinho?

Publicado en BBC, Chelsea, Futbol, Press TV by alvarezgalloso on Enero 9th, 2008

As Drogba heads towards the Ivory Coast to participate in the Africa’s Cup of Nation, many of the pundits are wandering about his future with Chelsea in wake of reports by Press TV.

The pundits are also wandering about the future of The Great One after he refused to become The National Coach of England.

Press TV and the Sports Magazine As reported again about Drogba leaving Chelsea for AC Milan as soon as his contract expires while Mourinho has been picked to succeed Ancellotti as Coach of the team. BBC Sports made similar reports. The Daily Sports have also added fuel to the speculations by reporting on Drogba and The Great One going to Milan.

Drogba has been rumored to want to leave Chelsea but these were squashed after a conversation with Grant. Drogba retracted his earlier statements and said that he wanted to play for Chelsea. Drogba had also stated that he did want to discuss his future with Chelsea until he “meets privately at the end of the [2007-2008] season”.

As is also reporting that FC Barcelona is interested in replacing Rijkaard with Mourinho but he prefers Milan to Barcelona. This report has also been repeated by Press TV.

While originally stating that Drogba and Mourino would be ideal for AC Milan, I decided to review all of the reports extensively. I now conclude that either the reports are true with the people and clubs involved withholding comments or that the clubs and players involved are just experimenting with this type of news in order to see the reaction of the press.

I will not believe unless there is proof. These stories appear to be too good to be true.

I Support Chelsea

Publicado en Chelsea, Futbol by alvarezgalloso on Enero 4th, 2008

Lampard has stated that he would like to remain in Chelsea until he retires.

As a Chelsea Supporter, I applaud his decision to support Chelsea. For the detractors who are questioning his loyalty thinking of monetary gains or retirement, I have to disagree.

While understanding that money makes the world go around and changes loyalties, there are still people who love a club or are content to work where they are. There are people who love their clubs and not one amount of money will change that.

It is refreshing to see that Lampard still feels that way about Chelsea. My heart is also with Chelsea and Stamford Bridge and there is nothing like loyalty to a team and an organization.
