HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II EASTER MESSAGE

- 2012-

Brothers and sisters, my fellow countryman,

We will mark this year again the day of the Lord’s Resurrection, one of the greatest festive daysin Christianity.

Before this coming holy day, my family and I remember together with you the words of the Jesus – messages of peace, understanding and the mutual respect, by which He taught mankind.

Spending the time of Christ’s Resurrection together with your families is wonderful, and to keep the core of the family gathering and love in spite of the difficulties and challenges imposed due to the contemporary circumstances and the time we live in.

Let us remember and mention by both the words and deeds those that are helpless and poor, ill and expelled from their homes, let’s help those that are unable by themselves and for whose any help is precious. This is the best way we can show our goodness.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ brings to us all the message of hope and love. Let’s celebrate it this year, too, with joy, praying to the Lord to be with us in these times that are setting new challenges in front of all of us.

My wife and sons and I join in sending these warm wishes and we salute you all together by the traditional Easter greeting:

Christ is Risen!

Indeed He is Risen!

Aleksandar II

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II EASTER MESSAGE

-         GREGORIAN CALENDAR 2012 -

The great day of the Resurrection of Our Lord is upon us. The great day, that enlightened the world with joy and gave purpose to our existence. The day above all days and the feast above all feasts. I am joined by my wife Crown Princess Katherine, sons Hereditary Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander in wishing that this Holy Day remind us that we are all God’s children and that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is a call to find within ourselves what is good, for our sake and for the sake of general salvation.

We pray to the Lord to give us strength and wisdom to overcome all pain and trouble. We pray that we will work together for the benefit of Serbia and everyone in our country for present and future generations. We pray that during these days, when the global economic crisis and various natural and human-inflicted disasters are threatening countries and nations all over the world, we pray for peace, recovery and progress.

We pray to the Resurrected Lord to bless us and save and protect our compatriots in Kosovo and Metohija, and everywhere in the world where there is suffering, pain, injustice and violence.

Let Easter resurrect in us the noblest virtues that will make us endure as nation and as people. These are qualities of love for our neighbours, justice for every wrong, peace for the troubled, strength for the weak, help for the poor and needy, and unity to enable us to live and work together.

The resurrection of Jesus offers us a message of hope, love, and grace. Once again my wife and sons join me in extending our warmest wishes, and we do so in the very same spirit of Easter.

Christ is Risen!

Alexander II

HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II  CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR MESSAGE JULIAN CALENDAR

Belgrade, 6 January 2012 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II extends his Christmas and New Year’s message to the citizens of Serbia who celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar.

Dear Citizens of Serbia,

2011 was a very difficult year for Serbia, although we fulfilled all our international obligations, unfortunately the European Parliament postponed the decision about candidacy status in the European Union. It is not officially requested that Serbia recognise Kosovo, but it is demanded that Serbia normalise relationships in the spirit of good neighbours. Our people who live there are suffering great pressure, and Serbian sanctuaries are in danger to be labeled as somebody else’s by UNESCO. All this is happening on the eve of 2012, the centenary of the First Balkan War, when my great grandfather King Peter I fulfilled Kosovo’s oath to liberate the Serbian Jerusalem. Even then, 100 years ago, Serbia tried to find its’ own path between the great powers that were not always friendly, but Serbia had its national interests, its strategy and its way to realise them. Some people say that history should not be a burden on the way towards the future, and I agree with that, but history should teach us some things, and we should learn from it, to avoid repeating the same mistakes.      The economy is another field in which we have suffered a very difficult year, and not just us but the world as a whole. Nevertheless, much more decisive actions are needed to remove bureaucratic barriers, so that the economic environment becomes more friendly for our business people and attractive for foreign investors.  I am extremely proud that the previous year brought several world class results. Our young mathematicians won world competitions again, as well as our female national volleyball team and Novak Djokovic was proclaimed the best athlete in the world. Belgrade got a new bridge over Sava River, the first one in 40 years. We have winners here, among us. All these achievements confirm that Serbia is a country of many talents and great potential.  Those are the reasons for us all to unite, to build stable and prosperous society, for the benefit of our homeland, our families and all citizens of Serbia regardless of religion or ethnic origin.

My family joins me in wishing all citizens of Serbia a good and prosperous New Year for 2012.

Merry Christmas!

Christ is born!

Alexander
