It was well known that on the 23rd of February 2008 that Arsenal player Eduardo was injured by Taylor. It is also well known that Martin Taylor from Birmingham tackled Eduardo resulting in an expulsion and that Arsene Wenger made the declaration that “Taylor should be banned”. While Arsene Wenger was forced to retract his statement, I disagree with him in having to retract his statement.
What happened was a disgrace and should not have happened. Martin Taylor acted in an anti social and anti professional manner which left Eduardo with a fractured left fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle. I do not know if Martin Taylor did this inadvertently or not, but his actions and what happened to Eduardo should be the reason for a red card and a lifetime ban from football. I am also in agreement with Croatian Radio and Television Personalities on the need to have Taylor expelled permanently from football taking into account that Eduardo will have to undergo nine months of rehabilitation in order to effect a full recovery.
While I want Martin Taylor punished, I am in disagreement with those who want to commit random acts of violence against him. I am also in disagreement with the statements threatening Martin Taylor that I have seen in the Croatian Websites. This sort of action contributes to inflaming the situation more than what it should be. It would be a crime for any country to even think of declaring war because of what has happened. We have to remember that in the late 1960’s; El Salvador and Honduras fought a war because of a football game. Violence begets violence and it will not help the football world if Croatia or anybody attacks Martin Taylor. The only thing that will solve the injustice committed against Eduardo, Croatia, and Arsenal is to have Martin Taylor banned permanently from football. Unlike Arsene Wenger, I am saying this after carefully reviewing what transpired in the BBC Websites and looking at the medical websites.
Eduardo, I hope you make a full recovery. Martin Taylor, I hope you are truly sorry for what you have done and make the decision to retire permanently from football. FIFA or the FA, please initiate appropriate and necessary action against this injustice and remove Taylor from football. Taylor does not need counseling; he needs a one way ticket to the unemployment office.
In order to write about the football [soccer] legends and the legendary clubs with which they are associated, his or her life and times and what influenced them must be evaluated. Thierry Henry is not the exception.
Thierry Henry was born in 1977 in Les Ulis Essonne Paris France which was a tough neighborhood with plenty of resources to play football [soccer]. His parents were from the French Overseas Terrtories in the Antilles [Guadaloupe and Martinique]. His early years were marked with a potential to progress in football [soccer]. He played in CO Les Ulis, US Palaiseau, and Viry-Châtillon. After Viry-Châtillon, he went to play for Clairefontaine, and AS Monaco.
It was during his period in the youth club of AS Monaco that he started his transition to a professional career in football [soccer] under the supervision of Arsene Wenger. His association with AC Monaco lasted from 1992 to 1998 and he scored 20 goals within 110 appearances. In 1999, he transferred to Juventus and scored three goals in sixteen appearances. While in Juventus, he was not happy with arrangements and the lifestyle of the team.
It was in 1999, that Thierry Henry transferred to Arsenal after signing a 10.5 Million Pound Sterling Agreement. Thierry Henry received greater news when he was reunited with his former manager and mentor Arsene Wenger in Arsenal. It was during the period between 1999 and 2007 that Arsenal, Thierry Henry, and Arsene Wenger were together embarking on one of the greatest historical periods in Arsenal. Henry scored 174 goals within 254 appearances, and received both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year. He was the runner-up for the 2003 FIFA World Player of the Year award two times and was the recipient of the European Golden Boot.
Unfortunately, many good things came to an end with Henry transferred to Barcelona in 2007. He scored at the present time six goals within 15 appearances. While it is only a beginning, it was not the same as in Arsenal. Henry has also played for the French Team since 1997 where he scored 44 goals within 97 appearances, participated in two FIFA World Cups [1998 and 2002].
Off the field, Thierry Henry is a family man who is happily married to an English Model named Clare Merry and have a daughter Tea. Henry dedicated his first goal since the birth of his daughter to her. Thierry Henry is also a member of UNICEF-FIFA and Stand Up Speak Up Against Racism. It is because of his life inside and outside football [soccer] that Thierry Henry will be remembered as one of the outstanding football [soccer] legends.
Sir Alex Ferguson has told MUTV that “while Arsenal had good possession, United had a chance of winning the game”. This was in reference to the 2-2 draw United had with Arsenal. Sir Alex Ferguson went ahead and stated that Howard Webb [referee] favored Arsenal.
While Roberto did not watch the game, he was able to see some highlights after the game when the news broke out. Football has always had a weak spot and it was the referee. There was a time when referees were impartial. Now these days are over. In response to the ever increasing problems of referees being impartial, FIFA should apply the same standards to them as they do with players and managers [including licence requirements].
