Sooooooooooooooo excited to get to play again for all of you wonderful East Coast friends!  These are extra special because they’re CD RELEASE CONCERTS for my brand new album A COMMON CASE OF DISAPPEARING and some of my favorite people on the planet are joining on stage!

Thank you for taking the time to listen.  I’m so grateful to be putting this new album in your hands, it was a huge group effort getting to collaborate with so many people who are heroes to me (Jacquire King, Brad Bivens, Adam Levy, Frank Swart, Marco Giovino, Oliver Kraus, Zac Rae, Jason Reeves & Jason Mraz!).  You plant the seed, water it, watch the first little green push up through the soil.. and this week definitely feels like the color is all wrapped up in a tight bud ready to explode into blossom at the break of dawn. November 23.  Thanksgiving’s Eve.  11-23-11.  Forever engrained as one of the most magical days of my life.  Jason Mraz invited me to be his special guest at Carnegie Hall.  Sold out.  Tiers and tiers of beautiful people, dressed to the nines.  A beautiful reverence in the air.  

I have a lot of dreams in my life.  This was a big one come true.  Singing with Jason Mraz in a cardboard box would be spectacular, singing with him at Carnegie Hall was top of the tree.  Or more like floating in outer space.  Best Thanksgiving gift ever.  I am soaked in gratitude.

PINCH ME COLLABORATIONS + VIDEOS!

I am constantly pinching myself because this feels like a wonderful dream (don’t wake me up!)
I just got back from a dreamy week in Florida with Martie Maguire & Emily Robison, the founding ladies of Dixie Chicks / Court Yard Hounds!   We wrote new songs together, had some wonderful times, and I got to watch them play a beautiful concert at my new favorite Florida spot, Studio B in Alys Beach, on a stage built over a swimming pool.  I also got the huge honor to play a couple of my songs with Martie on fiddle and Emily singing, along with two other artists I’m newly in love with, Billy Harvey and Tyler Lyle.  So much fun!!!  Such a huge huge thank you to Emily and Martie for putting this together.  I love them so much. Hello loveliest of lovelies!!

It’s the perfect day here, woke up to a layer of fog suspending over the creek, watched it crawl its way up the hillside and has since been weaving in and out of the trees and leaving a magical stillness surrounding everything.  Simply perfect.

So….. a bunch of exciting things here to share, yay!

1) Tomorrow SEPT 22 I play NEW YORK CITY @ THE LINCOLN CENTER!

2) MARTIE and EMILY of the COURT YARD HOUNDS / DIXIE CHICKS invited me to Texas last week to write with them!!  We had lots of fun AND wrote some new tunes we’re all excited over!!  Here’s a little video of just some of the very hard work that goes into writing songs…. Video Here.

3) MOUNTAIN STAGE PERFORMANCE airs nationwide on NPR Sept. 30th!!
If you don’t know this program yet you’re missing out – you can find it on your local NPR station.  Larry Groce is the real deal and has brought light to so many artists over the past 27 years before anyone else knew who they were.  A true music legend in so many ways, and a true honor to perform on his show.  And if that weren’t enough, I got to share the stage with John Oates, Blame Sally, Frontier Ruckus and Moreland & Arbuckle. Hello friend!

So I was clearing out brush leading to a secret waterfall last week and picked up a new friend… her name is poison ivy and we became quite attached very quickly.  She is on her way out now and I’m left happy and inspired as ever, soaking in sunshine and music and lots of joyfulness (and pink calamine lotion). 

Flying this Thursday to CALIFORNIA to play house concerts (yippee!), a festival in NEVADA (woo!), and a big outdoor concert in Los Angeles!  Then eastbound to NEW YORK CITY for a concert at the World Financial Center Plaza, followed by NPR’s MOUNTAIN STAGE (yes yes yes!) in WEST VIRGINIA with… John Oates!  Pinch me!

Would love to see you, and your friends and pets and neighbors.  Last week I was a big introvert and got all my looking inward out, now I’m in full-blown friend mode.  Come play!

Hello lovely friends!
I moved north of the city, happily surrounded by trees…. been waking to chipmunks wrestling in the yard and newborn deer and fuzzy little goslings popping up all over.  Last night I fell asleep with the big moon shining off the river (like a national guitar) and fireflies lighting up and disappearing like little miracles.  Nature never gets old.

Last week was a treat with the NYC show turning into an ACCIDENTAL EXTRAVAGANZA shared with many of my favorite musicians / songwriters / humans ever.  Thanks to Rockwood Music Hall & Modern Vintage, we have live audio and video which will be online soon.  You will flip out when you hear everyone, so many fun collaborations… in order of appearance: Threeds, Paul Brill, Lisa Jaeggi, Jeff Taylor, Nate Campany, Rosi Golan, The Animators, Adam Levy, Ian Axel, Jason Mraz, J Blynn, and Alex Wong.  Here’s a video courtesy of Rebel Spirit Music of our last song of the night.
