I am opposed to the United States Government paying for the Professional Sports Players that are competing in the Beijing Olympics while I am in favour of the Government paying for the Amateur Players. My reasons are based on the fact that professional sports players in the United States of America earn more than a Physician, Nurse, Social Worker, or Pharmacist combined and the fact that they have corporate sponsors such as Visa, or other Multinational Companies such as Coca Cola. In fact, we the taxpayers are already paying for the lifestyle of the Professional Player in America and with some exceptions the majority does not give back to the community.

On the other hand, I think the United States Government should withdraw its troops from the Middle East and other parts of the world with the intention of using that money to fund athletes who cannot fend for themselves. How many amateur athletes in America have to overcome obstacles from the home and from the governing elite in order to excel. While Life is not easy and fair, the amateur deserves all of the opportunity if he or she is willing to pay the price and practice until they classify for the Olympics. We have talent that is wasted on professional athletes without taking into account that the Olympics started with Amateur Players. There are other countries who grant all of the help and aid to their sports representatives including the professionals. Yet, we do not help the amateurs but help the professional indirectly.

It should be fair that if we can help the professionals indirectly we should help the amateurs or better yet, give Government help to the Amateurs while the Professionals can receive help from the corporate conglomerates. In addition, Government help to the Amateur Athletes will balance the Corporate Help for the Professional Athletes and would help the United States advance in future Olympics. It would be money well spent compared to the money that is spent on wars, politicians’ personal retirements, or even campaigns [which are funded with taxpayer money].

Again, this does not mean that I am in favour of the government helping ALL of the athletes. I am just saying that the Professional Athletes who are competing in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics do not deserve to receive help from the Government of the United States of America since they earn more than other professions while the Amateur Athletes need help from the Government taking into account that the majority of these athletes come from families that cannot afford the best in sports equipment, or a gym. Money that would be spent elsewhere would be better spent helping an amateur athlete who comes from a rough neighborhood and whose ambition is to excel in the sports of his or her choice.

The Mongolian Prime Minister stimualted and challenged the Mongolian National Olympic Team to win a Gold Medal. I would like to wish the best of luck for Mongolia.

The President of the Korean Olympic Committee [South Korea: Republic of Korea] has declared that he is satisfied that the Beijing Olympics of 2008 will be a place where Asian Culture can be promoted. He also predicted an Olympics that will be the greatest.

The South Korean Television Channel SBS violated the trust of the Chinese People and Nation by filming and showing an Olympic Rehearsal. It is easy for the Television Channel SBS to say that they saw no one and decided to film. A Lesson to be learned is that when in doubt, do not do it or ask permission.

The United States Tennis Association announced on the 26th of June 2008 that the following people will compete in the Beijing Olympics: Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Lindsey Davenport, Liezel Huber for the Women’s Team with James Blake, Sam Querrey, Robby Ginepri, Bob Bryan, and Mike Bryan for the Men’s Team. The United States Tennis Association also announced that the competition will occur in the hard courts of the Olympic Green Tennis Center which is located in Beijing, China.

The propsects for a medal in the Beijing Olympics 2008 is a big possibility since the United States has been the recipient of fifteen Olympic Medals since 1988. Serena Williams has been a Gold Medal Winner in the Women’s Double Sets in the 2000 Summer Olympics held in Sydney, Australia while her sister Venus Williams has been the Gold Medal Winner of the Women’s Single and Women’s Double in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Lindsey Davenport has been the recipient of The Gold Medal in Women’s Single in the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia. Another addition to this mixture is Liezel Huber who competed for South Africa in the 2000 Olympic Games before moving to the United States of America. Since then, Liezel Huber has been an American Citizen and has been practicing in her residence in Texas. Liezel Huber also won Three Grand Slam Doubles and has been playing for the United States Federation Cup since April 2008. It would be a mistake to underestimate the US Olympic Women’s Tennis Players as they go for the gold in the Summer Olympics to be held in Beijing, The People’s Republic of China in 2008.

James Blake is hoping to start his Olympic Career by becoming the first African American Tennis Player to win an Olympic Medal. James Blake has been waiting for this moment since he was sidelined by a fractured vertebra and was unable to play in the 2004 Athens Olympics. He was instrumental in winning the Davis Cup Title for the United States of America in 2007. Bob and Mike Bryan were also instrumental in winning the Davis Cup Title for the United States of America in the same league as James Blake. Bob and Mike Bryan will be making their second appearance in the Olympic Games. Sam Querrey and Robby Ginepri will be making their first Olympic Appearance and it is hoped that they will make history.

Regardless, my best wishes to the United States Olympic Tennis Players in their quest for the gold in the Beijing Olympics of 2008.

I have decided to write about the prospects for the US Olympic Baseball Team with the intention of correcting some misconceptions. For one thing, there will be baseball stars competing in the Beijing Olympics 2008 while MLB [Major League Baseball] continues its regular season. One example of those who belong to MLB and will go to the Beijing Olympics 2008 is Matt La Porta. In fact, Matt La Porta is one of the keys for the US Olympic Baseball Team in obtaining an Olympic Medal. Stephen Strasburg is another key in the puzzle for the US Olympic Baseball Team in obtaining an Olympic Medal. It is important to know about La Porta and Strasburg when following Olympic Baseball.

Matt La Porta was born in Port Charlotte, Florida on the 8th day of January in the year 1985. Matt La Porta started his sports career as a Quarterback [in American Football] for the Charlotte High School Pirates before switching to baseball. At the age of eighteen, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs but preferred to play baseball in the University of Florida. He also refused similar offers from the Boston Red Sox and won the SEC [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year Award. The number of teams he played for has been the Helena Brewers, West Virginia Power, Mesa Solar Sox, Huntsville Stars, and the Akron Aeros before being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cleveland Indians. Matt La Porta is currently a left fielder with the Cleveland Indians. The MLB Press Release dated on the 16th of July 2008 announced that Matt La Porta will be playing in the Beijing Olympics.

Stephen Strasburg is another choice for the US Olympic Baseball Team and does not currently belong to any Major League Team. Stephen Strasburg is a Pitcher for the San Diego Aztecs at San Diego State University. He was born and raised in San Diego, California on the 20th of July 1988. In the year 2008, he made a name for himself with a twenty three strike out performance in a one hitter on the 11th of April 2008 defeating Utah 1-0. He continued with a 1.57 ERA with 133 strikeouts in 97 innings. He has also played with the US National Collegiate Team in Europe with the following record of 2-0, 1.44 ERA, with 39 strikeouts in 27 innings.

I would like to wish La Porta, Strasburg, and the US Olympic Baseball Team the best during the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

I am reading the article by Xinhua and CRI English about the members of US Congress attempting to mix politics with sports in the Beijing Olympics. It appears that members of the United States Congress are living in one world where politics is the order of the day 24 hours, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year and the rest of the people are living in the world of “Forever Friends” and the desire to enjoy sports.

The United States Congress has no moral authority to lecture the rest of the world on the issue of human rights when the election rules are biased in favour of the governing Republicans and Democrats. In other words, the Republicans and Democrats run the country while alternative political parties such as the Libertarians and Greens are excluded. What type of human rights is the United States Congress talking about? Is Congress talking about human rights in which people are assaulted? Is Congress talking about human rights in which families and elderly people are disposed of? Is talking Congress about human rights in which those who love sports have to take a back seat to those who are still in the Cold War Era? Before people start accusing me of impersonating a Westerner, I was born and raised in the United States of America and I am sick and tired of our society making critical remarks about the Beijing Olympics.

The NPC [National People’s Congress] and the Foreign Ministry of the People’s Republic of China did the right thing in protecting their country and the Beijing Olympics against attempts at sabotage. I would also like to add that during my visit to China, people were nice and courteous. The people of China including CRI English [China Radio International], China People’s Palace Hotel, and the Jusco Store treated me like family. I also want to thank CRI English for serving as a stabilizing force [along with my wife and daughter] during the period of Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma in 2005 when we had no electricity and when the US Congress did nothing to alleviate our pain and agony [a gross violation of human rights].

If the US Congress does not like the Beijing Olympics, they can sit in their boring buildings and talk about ways to make the American Population miserable. The rest of the world will enjoy the games.

The prospects of the US Olympic Swimming Team winning a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal will depend upon many factors. The factors that come into winning an Olympic Medal are determined by the will and discipline of the athlete and the team as well as the strength of the competition, and the environment. If there is a prospect for the US Olympic Swimming Team to win a medal, it would be Amanda Beard.

Amanda Beard is a Model and an Olympic Swimmer. Amanda Beard was born and raised in Newport Beach, California on the 29th of October in the year 1981 and started swimming like most people in California at an early age. She specialized in the Breaststroke while attending Irvine High School in Irvine, California and the University of Arizona.

Amanda Beard started her Olympic Career with her participation in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics at the tender age of fourteen where she won silver medals in the hundred meter and two hundred meter breaststroke and a gold medal in the medley relay. She was famous for receiving her medals while holding on to her teddy bear for good luck. She would later win a bronze medal in the 2000 Olympics held in Sydney, Australia secondary to her participation in the two hundred meter breaststroke. Amanda Beard also managed to win an NCAA Division One Championship followed by victories in the US Nationals.

Amanda Beard made a big contribution to the United States of America in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Greece where she won the gold medal for the 200 meter breaststroke and a silver medal in the 200 meter individual medley. She also managed to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics after finishing second in the 200 meter breaststroke.

Amanda Beard has made appearances in television programmes such as “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” as well as in Playboy Magazine [July 2007 Issue] and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for the year 2006. Amanda Beard is involved in the Defenders of Wildlife Association whose purpose is to prevent cruelty to animals and the abolition of steel jaw leg hold traps. Amanda Beard has served her country and the world in sports and outside sports. It is for this reason that she will be the person to see in the Beijing Olympics 2008 and the possibility of the US Olympic Swimming Team winning a medal would be secondary to her effort. Amanda Beard is an institution for those in the swimming world the end of the Twentieth Century and the beginning of the Twenty First Century.

I wish Amanda Beard the best in the Beijing Olympics of 2008 and in the future. I also want to wish Amanda Beard the best in her efforts to help animals in the Defenders of Wildlife Association.
