In the first month and a half of 2008, Governor Crist took off more week days than he worked – showing up less than 50% of the time.[Governor’s Public Schedule, Jan. 1-Feb. 13, 2008]When Charlie Crist ran for Governor in 2006, he spent millions on infamous “Empty Chair” television ads to attack Democratic candidate Jim Davis. These ubiquitous ads, which featured an empty chair rolling along the streets of Washington, DC, were largely credited as Crist’s most memorable attack on Davis.
The Republican Party of Florida even brought back the “empty chair” concept to attack Democrats in late 2007.
Unfortunately for the people of Florida, the real empty chair – Charlie Crist – won.
These days, Floridians are more likely to see their Governor’s perpetually sunny face in the background of a McCain campaign press conference than working to deal with the state’s economic crisis.
